Now offering SEMAGLUTIDE. Semaglutide is the once weekly injectable for weight management. Similar brand names are Wegovy, Ozempic, or Rybelsus. Semaglutide is now indicated for chronic weight management as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity in adults with a BMI ≥30 kg/m2 (obesity), or ≥27 kg/m2 (overweight) in the presence of a weight-related comorbidity. Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists. It mimics the GLP-1 hormone, released in the gut in response to eating. The GLP-1 prompts the body to produce more insulin, which reduces blood sugar (glucose). The GLP-1 also interacts with the parts of the brain that suppress your appetite and signal you to feel full. Semaglutide improves body composition by helping patients lose weight and reduce excess fat, including stubborn belly fat. It also increases the proportion of lean body mass. In general, the more weight you lose with semaglutide, the greater the improvements you'll see in your overall body composition across all areas.
