When you are planning to conceive, the months before matter just as much as the months during.

A woman is most fertile in the days leading up to ovulation, which typically occurs about two weeks before the start of the next period, and lifestyle choices for both partners play a critical role.

Smoking, heavy alcohol use, poor diet, and excessive exercise can all interfere with fertility.

Starting prenatal vitamins with folic acid before conception helps prevent birth defects.

And a preconception visit with your OBGYN allows you to review your medical history, check vaccination status, and create a proactive plan tailored to your health.

PCOS is one of the most common hormonal conditions affecting women of reproductive age, and yet many women go undiagnosed for years struggling with symptoms that feel disconnected from each other.

The truth is, symptoms like jawline acne, thinning hair, and irregular periods can all be connected to the same hormonal imbalance.

PCOS is caused by higher-than-normal levels of androgens that disrupt ovulation and lead to a range of symptoms.

Risk factors include family history, insulin resistance, and a sedentary lifestyle.

If you recognize several of these signs, especially in combination, a conversation with your provider could change everything.

Tag a friend who needs to see this or share it with someone who has been dealing with these symptoms without answers.

The first trimester is a pivotal time for a baby’s biological development. During the first few weeks of growth, babies will start to undergo a process known as organogenesis, the development of organs such as the heart and lungs. For this reason, a mother’s health and nutrition during the first trimester is vital.

If you have been putting off your annual exam or are not sure which screenings you actually need right now, this one is for you.

For women 21 to 29, the key screenings include a Pap smear every three years to detect abnormal cervical cells, regular blood pressure checks especially if there is a family history of hypertension.

STI screenings are also important, particularly for chlamydia and gonorrhea, since these can often be asymptomatic.

Think of this list as your cheat sheet for your next appointment. Screenshotting it now saves you from the awkward "um, what should I ask about" moment later.

Share this with a friend who might be wondering what screenings to ask about!
