For Back, Shoulder and Neck Pain Relief. Broomstick Stretch. Euclid Chiropractic. Upland, CA

Hold each position for five seconds, and move through each position for a minimum of 30 seconds.

I recommend my patients to do this twice a day; morning, and evening.

How do prevent injury, and help yourself feel good? Stretch! Not once a week, but everyday. Here is a routine to help you get your whole body ready for the day...everyday.

Workshop Outline::
Why should we stretch? How often? When?
Does nutrition affect our flexibility?
Starting from the bottom:
1. Calf, lower leg
2. knees
3. Thighs (with roller)
4. hips
5. Hands, wrists
6. Elbows with Shoulders
7. Neck (upper trap stretch)
8. Torso twist
9. Half squat
10. Open Chest Stretch

Strategy to walking better:
* Assess spine, hip, knee/ankle alignment.
* Assess standing & walking posture. (Check feet, upper back)

Balance and Falling issues can be the result of other problems such as weak muscles or limited joint motion. This workshop will give you individual exercises to strength weak muscles and improve coordinated movement when walking to give you better balance. Overall doing these exercises consistently will help you maintain your independence, and feel confident moving without falling.

How our brain, nerves and movement work to tune your balance.
Seated: working on your low body balance.
* Alternate feet rolling.
* Alternate knee extensions.
* Alternate leg lifts.
Standing: moving with good balance; check your posture first.
* Why your normal may not be ideal.
* Strengthen quads with wall squats.
* Assisted alternate lunges (using wall, chair). Front and Back. Eyes Open/Closed.
Now put it together with Walking THIS way.
* Rolling feet; fingers on the wall; head up.
* Eyes open; front and back.

Outline for the workshop--
The causes: -traumatic, poor posture, lifestyle/exercise habits.

The symptoms: pain (around the neck & head), headaches, dizziness, radiating neurological signs (sharp, numb, weakness, tingling, burning).

Assessing your neck: R.O.M., posture check, x-ray analyis (if needed).

When chiropractic can help. (posture, disc healing, nerve symptom reduction, improve joint motion, guidance in building an exercise routine, etc.)

Start with these stretches:
-pillow stretch
-corner stretch
-upper trap stretch
Build strength/endurance:
-3 shoulders
-shrug

Knee Bent/Back Stretch Exercise
For Back Pain Recovery.

This exercise can be done at any back pain level.
Start this exercise on your back (even in bed).
Steps to the stretch:
1. Bend the left knee 45 degree, and keep foot anchored.
2. With the right leg, drop it over the bent left knee.
3. Use your left hand to pull the right knee to the left, straight across.
4. Pull to where you feel tension, but not causing pain.
5. Hold for 30 to 60 seconds.
6. Repeat for the other side.
