Meet Kyle Sims one of our amazing physical therapy assistants!

Kyle’s journey into Physical Therapy started early. As a middle schooler, he watched his father undergo months of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation after a work injury. The compassion and expertise of the therapists who supported his dad inspired Kyle to pursue a career helping others regain their physical independence.

Kyle earned his B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Health and Human Performance from the University of La Verne, then continued on to Cerritos College to obtain his PTA license. Throughout his education, he gained hands‑on experience in oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, post‑stroke, and post‑heart attack rehabilitation.

When he’s not in the clinic, Kyle enjoys watching soccer, playing golf, spending time with his dog, and discovering new restaurants. We’re excited for you to get to know him.

We are excited to introduce our wonderful therapist Jacquelyn “Jackie” Canez, PT, DPT. 💙💚🤍

Jackie’s journey into physical therapy began at a young age through her personal experiences supporting a family member through orthopedic rehabilitation and later through volunteering at Casa Colina Hospital while attending Cal Poly Pomona. She went on to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from USC and has developed a strong passion for outpatient orthopedic care.

After overcoming her own lumbar spine injury, Jackie understands firsthand the challenges patients face when dealing with pain and fear of movement. She is known for her compassionate approach and commitment to creating effective, individualized plans of care that support both short term progress and long-term function.

Outside the clinic, Jackie enjoys weight training, spending time with her husband and loved ones. She also enjoys attending concerts and hanging out with her dog Luke.

Thursday Therapy Thoughts

Multiple studies show arthritis severity on imaging does not strongly predict pain or function, which explains why some people with severe arthritis feel fine while others with mild changes struggle. A physical therapist can help guide you. Source: Systematic review, Osteoarthritis and Cartilage (Bedson & Croft, 2008).

Why It Works Wednesday
