Honoring the Life of Mark A. Short

Today, our CRSI family pauses to remember Mark A. Short, who passed away on November 15, 2025. Mark was 61 years old and had been part of our CRSI community for an incredible 23 years. During that time, he became more than someone we served—he became family to the many staff who cared for him and the friends who shared life with him.

Mark did not have any living family members at the time of his passing, and because of that, his CRSI team lovingly stepped into that role. They were with him through everyday routines, celebrations, challenges, and joys. They were his support system, his circle, and his home.

While we do not typically post publicly about the passing of individuals we support, with no family remaining to honor his memory, we felt it was important to share his story and invite our community to help celebrate his life.

Mark was a gentle soul who enjoyed good meals with friends, shopping at Goodwill, classic TV shows, old movies, and his beloved Oldies and Country music—especially Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. His kindness, routine, and humor touched all who knew him.

To honor his life, CRSI will host a Celebration of Life:

Our Jefferson ladies and staff had a fantastic time enjoying the Balloon Festival! Surrounded by colorful skies, laughter, and great company, it was a joyful outing filled with fun, smiles, and unforgettable moments.
We love seeing everyone out in the community experiencing special events and making memories together. What a beautiful day to celebrate connection and joy! 💛

Jill Wolfe, John Hanna, and staff shared a wonderful evening celebrating the season at a fall party filled with smiles, laughter, and festive fun. It was a great time enjoying the crisp autumn atmosphere, connecting with one another, and making special memories together.
Moments like these are what make our community so special — bringing people together to celebrate, relax, and enjoy the simple joy of the season. 💛

We were proud to celebrate our incredible Clark and Champaign County teams at our 2025 Staff Appreciation Luncheon held at Young’s Jersey Dairy! Staff enjoyed a well-deserved day of fun, laughter, and connection while taking part in putt putt, delicious ice cream, and a variety of other activities.
It was a joyful opportunity to say THANK YOU to the dedicated professionals who make a difference every single day. Your compassion, hard work, and commitment do not go unnoticed — we are so grateful for each of you!

Consumers Cheryl, Susie, Lena, Cassy, and Geraldine enjoyed a wonderful day at Dupler’s Pumpkin Land alongside staff members Nancy, Jess, and Vanessa. From soaking in the fall atmosphere to sharing laughs and making memories together, it was a day full of joy, connection, and seasonal fun.
Outings like these create meaningful experiences and opportunities to enjoy the community — and this one was truly special! 💛🍁
