Progress at home can look different than in therapy—and that’s okay! If your little one took five bites in therapy but only touches it at home, that’s still a win. 🥳

Here are 5 tips to help new foods feel familiar and fun at home:
✨ Keep it low-pressure
✨ Offer tiny bites or a “learning plate”
✨ Pair new foods with favorites
✨ Practice outside mealtimes (cutting, mashing, painting with puree, cooking, grocery store “food detective” games, smelling spices, sorting foods by color/texture)
✨ Praise effort, not how much is eaten

At home, the goal is comfort and curiosity—let mealtime be about exploring, not just eating! 🍎🫛🍔

Today we explored food in a whole new way—through painting! 🎨🍎 Using foods as art tools helps us get curious, creative, and more comfortable around new textures.

Wearing gloves gives extra support for those with tactile defensiveness, allowing everyone to engage at their own pace while building confidence. Step by step, we’re learning that new textures don’t have to feel scary—they can be fun! 💛

Kids don’t learn AAC just by being told to use it—they learn by seeing it in action. 👀💬

When we model AAC alongside speech, gestures, and play , we’re sending a powerful message: Your voice matters 💖. Their device becomes a tool to connect 🤝, ask questions ❓, share ideas 💡, say “no” ✋, and fully participate in the conversation 🗨️.

Students gain hands-on clinical experience at the Roy Eblen Speech and Hearing Clinic and additional sites, where they assess and treat a wide range of speech, language, and hearing disorders.
