Both Rep. Lundgren and IPA member Joe Greenwood played key roles in getting PBM reform (SF 383) to the Governor’s desk in 2025.

Member Spotlight 🌟 Stacy Johnson

🥼 Stacy is a third-year student pharmacist at Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, where she has also earned a Master’s in Business Administration and a minor in Spanish. Stacy is a pharmacy intern at MercyOne West Lakes in West Des Moines.

💙 Stacy is a student representative on IPA’s Board of Trustees and involved in a variety of student organizations, including Kappa Psi, Rho Chi, Phi Lambda Sigma, and APhA. In 2025, she served as a legislative intern for Rep. Brett Barker for Iowa.

🩺 Under SOC, Stacy sees pharmacists taking a more clinically focused, active role in patients’ lives. She’s eager to see how technology evolves and highlights the adaptability of her peers: “Students are able to embrace these changes and provide innovative ways to push pharmacy into that future through new perspectives and advocacy.”

💬 Stacy offers the following advice to other students: “Try to keep an open mind and approach every experience with a desire to learn.”

IPA staff joined Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird for a visit at Mahaska Drug in Oskaloosa.

A sincere thank you to pharmacists John & Jane Nicholson for hosting the Iowa Pharmacy Association and the Attorney General and for sharing firsthand insight into how pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) practices impact Iowa pharmacies and the patients they serve. IPA continues to monitor implementation of SF383 that went into effect July 1, 2025.

We deeply appreciate Attorney General Bird’s leadership and support in addressing harmful PBM practices and fighting to protect patient access to care across Iowa.

Member Spotlight 🌟 Lorin Fisher, PharmD, BCACP

💊 Lorin is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Supportive and Palliative Care. She completed PGY1 and PGY2 residencies with the University of Iowa Health Care in ambulatory care pharmacy.

📊 Lorin has been involved in IPA since she was a student pharmacist. Through her residency years, Lorin presented posters at IPA Annual Meeting and served on various IPA committees. Most recently, Lorin attended the Decker-Temple Leadership Pharmacy Conference with the Class of 2025.

💙 When asked why others should get involved, Lorin described IPA with three Cs: comfort, community, and connections.

👩‍⚕️ Looking ahead, Lorin sees pharmacists providing accessible, comprehensive care for patients—and getting paid for new services!
