Our Hill Day for tomorrow, Monday, March 16th, is canceled due to the weather. We at IACP appreciate the understanding of all who were planning to attend, and ultimately want to ensure that everyone remains safe.

There are many ways to advocate! Consider a call, email, or inviting your legislator to learn more about your organization. Stay tuned as we seek to secure another date in April.

We love supporting our members’ advocacy whenever we can, and we were proud to stand with LSI during their Hill Day at the Iowa Statehouse.

IACP CEO Ben Shuberg joined LSI CEO Senator Renee Hardman and advocates from across the state to help elevate the voices of those working every day to support children, families, and communities. Showing up together matters—and we’re grateful for the opportunity to support our members as they engage policymakers and share the impact of their work. 💙🏛️

IACP members deliver essential supports in all 99 counties across Iowa. These services depend on Medicaid rates that keep pace with actual costs. When rates are not reviewed regularly, access to care and workforce stability are put at risk.

This brief video explains why consistent rate reviews matter—and why IACP supports House Study Bill 621. This legislation provides a practical, transparent approach to ensuring rates are reviewed in a timely and sustainable way.

Let your legislators know you support HSB 621 (link in comments).

Last month, IACP CEO Ben Shuberg was honored to join the panel From DC to Iowa: How Policy Shifts Will Impact the Disability Community, hosted by The Harkin Institute.

Ben shared Iowa’s provider perspective—highlighting how federal policy decisions shape access, funding, and the long-term stability of community-based services across our state.

This important conversation explored major issues on the horizon, including anticipated HCBS waiver reforms, workforce and reimbursement challenges, and the evolving federal landscape that will impact how Iowans with disabilities receive services.

IACP is grateful for opportunities like this to elevate the voices of Iowa’s providers and ensure our members stay ahead of the changes coming from Washington. Our commitment remains clear: strong advocacy, informed leadership, and a steadfast focus on ensuring every Iowan can live, work, and thrive in the community of their choice.
