We are excited to finally show off some new updates we have been making recently. You may have seen that we just updated our logo/cover to reflect this!
We have...

In case you missed it- join us for our Seashell Massage course on February 14-15! This 16 hour course explores the healing properties of the different seashells provided, and how to integrate them into your regular massages or as a stand-alone treatment. This is a perfect way to spend a relaxing Valentine's Day weekend (with time to still do dinner, a movie, etc. afterwards, if that's your jam)! 😍🩷

Black History Month is a nationally recognized commemorative month that honors the achievements, culture, and central role of African Americans in U.S. history. In celebration of Black History Month, we wanted to share a few snippets/articles celebrating notable Black Americans in our history, who have helped pave the way in the healthcare field for our nation and world today. Whether it be massage therapy, nursing, physiology, holistic health, or anything in the healthcare field in general, our nation and world are forever changed for the better and continue to grow because of their impact. Here are just a few highlights that we would like to share:

-Mary Mahoney was one of the earliest known African American massage therapists, and made history as the first African American to work as a professionally trained nurse in the United States. Born in 1845, Mahoney overcame significant barriers to pursue her passion for nursing and healing. Her commitment to excellence and patient care set a powerful precedent for future generations of healthcare professionals, including massage therapists. -Delilah Beasley (born in 1867) lived a life immersed not just in professional journalism, but massage therapy and bodywork as well. She began her massage studies in Chicago, then returned to Ohio and did formal course work in hydrotherapy and nursing. Notably, she studied medical gymnastics, an early form of massage/physical therapy that originated in Sweden and came to prominence in the US during the 1850s. -James McCune Smith (born 1813) was the first African American individual to earn a medical degree after overcoming many challenges. (Picture text: Body Wisdom Massage Therapy school was the platform I needed to live my dream. A quick Google search led to a phone call about 15 minutes later, a tour scheduled, and a newfound support system in G Kelly that would ultimately led me on a journey that I never knew I truly needed.
At Body Wisdom, I received guidance, support, and an education that has proven to be one of the best. Classmates became like family. Educators and mentors who showed patience and care well above any other learning center.
After graduation, a close relationship has been maintained through communication and continuing education courses.
As a single mother, living almost 2 hours away, and working full time, Body Wisdom and its staff provided everything I needed to make this dream and all the goals included become reality. I am forever grateful. Now a licensed massage therapist, I will continue to educate and receive services and continuing education through Body Wisdom Massage Therapy School.)
