Some messages speak directly to the heart, like this one from Libbie Mack about her father, Ellis Shuford, and his final days:

“I have never been more grateful than for all of you at Abraham House. The last week of my sweet Daddy’s life was made so peaceful and comforting by each and every one of you. The care was fantastic and the house was truly lovely.

I will forever miss my Dad, but I’m comforted knowing he did not suffer.”

Offering peace, comfort, and dignity in life’s hardest moments is the honor of our work. We hold Libbie and her family in our hearts.

Some people have a way of brightening every room they walk into — and Carmen Russo, Jr. was one of them. His family affectionately called him “Mr. Mayor” because of his natural charm, optimism, and ability to make anyone feel at ease.

As his son Frank shared:
“A more genuine person you could never find… always optimistic and outgoing, able to strike up conversations with total strangers. He had a welcoming way that lifted spirits instantly.”

A veteran of the Korean War, a skilled mechanic and Mr. Fix-It, and a man who approached both people and broken things with patience — Carmen spent his life making the world better in small, meaningful ways.
In 2015, when he faced his final challenge, Carmen spent his last two months at Abraham House.

“Despite his diagnosis, the staff filled his final 2 months with respect, dignity, and loving care. A symbiotic relationship formed between ‘Mr. Mayor’ and the staff… predictable — the perfect client in the hands of a remarkable team.”

We are honored to have been part of his journey and deeply grateful to the Russo family for sharing his light with us.

Happy Administrative Professionals Day! 💚

Today we celebrate the heart of our organization our incredible Office Manager, Missy, who has dedicated 14 amazing years to Abraham House.

Your commitment, organization, and unwavering support keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. But more than that, it’s your compassion, leadership and genuine care for others that make such a lasting impact on everyone who walks through our doors.

We are beyond grateful for your loyalty and the countless ways you show up each and every day.

Thank you for all that you do, you are truly appreciated more than words can say! 💫

One of Tracey’s favorite memories as a volunteer at Abraham House was a resident who spoke about how much he loved music but hadn’t been able to play in quite some time.

Through music ministry, he picked up a flute and played alongside them again — reconnecting with something that brought him joy.

Moments like these remind us how powerful music, connection, and compassion can be.

Some moments inside our homes remind us why Abraham House exists.

The Jabour family shared this beautiful reflection about their mother, Marion Jabour:

“When you come into the house with a very sick family member, everyone opens their arms and embraces not only the guest but the whole family.

We brought our mother to you, and you showed us the way to bring her home. There are not enough words for the love you showed our family. Thank you.”

At Abraham House, caring for a guest means caring for the people who love them. It’s an honor to walk alongside families with warmth, compassion, and dignity.
