Everyone can help spread awareness. If you experience headaches often with no explanation please request to get checked out as it could be the start to a deadly silent killer!

July 20, 2017 would have been Tabathas 48th birthday, this day also will make it 3 months since her passing. We are asking for everyone to light a candle in her memory on this day and post a photo to our wall or tag our page in the photo.

Can't wait to see everyone's photos!

Warning Signs/ Symptoms of Brain Aneurysm

Unruptured brain aneurysms are typically completely asymptomatic. These aneurysms are typically small in size, usually less than one half inch in diameter. However, large unruptured aneurysms can occasionally press on the brain or the nerves stemming out of the brain and may result in various neurological symptoms. Any individual experiencing some or all of the following symptoms, regardless of age, should undergo immediate and careful evaluation by a physician.

Localized Headache
Dilated pupils
Blurred or double vision
Pain above and behind eye
Weakness and numbness
Difficulty speaking
Ruptured brain aneurysms usually result in a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), which is defined as bleeding into the subarachnoid space. When blood escapes into the space around the brain, it can cause sudden symptoms.

Seek Medical Attention Immediately If You Are Experiencing Some Or All Of These Symptoms:

Sudden severe headache, the worst headache of your life
Loss of consciousness
Nausea/Vomiting
Stiff Neck
Sudden blurred or double vision
Sudden pain above/behind the eye or difficulty seeing
Sudden change in mental status/awareness
Sudden trouble walking or dizziness
Sudden weakness and numbness
Sensitivity to light (photophobia)
Seizure
Drooping eyelid

Tabatha is still off all sedation. She has opened her eyes while being cleaned up and turned as to prevent bedsores. When prompted she has not opened eyes but with pain stimulus she opens them.

The surgery has been moved to tomorrow at noon for her feeding tube. She has been on a CPAP trial for a while today according to her nurse. CPAP trial means vent is off and she is breathing on her own.

I'll be visiting her later and will provide another update then.

Sorry for the lack of updates to everyone. Tabatha has been doing ok. She has vent pnemonia but is on medication to fix that. Due to that she also has a slight fever but responds well to medicine to keep fever down. She had a EEG conducted this past Monday which today the Dr stated it shows no seizures in which he can see. :-). She is again responding to pain stimulus and opens eyes when it is felt and moves the arms/legs. (Has not done this in weeks) In approx a hr they will be reducing her sedation to a low level/possible stopping it and giving her ridalin to perk her up and allow her to hopefully finally wake up for a bit! Will provide a update on how that goes... I'm excited to see her!!!

****Now this is not a guarantee that we are clear but it's progress for now. So please don't fully assume nothing can go wrong today*****

So let's share this post and let the world pray, give there hopes and faith and whatever else we can get for a positive result today!!!!

Just recently my mother made the transition from Virginia up to Central New York where she intended to get her own place and start a fresh new life in a new place. While this was a wonderful plan and she was stress free or enjoying herself; things took a steep turn on March 17 at 845pm. This is t...

Update: Tabatha Wehrlen has maintained a slight temp the past few days and has remained in the same condition with no progress. We are awaiting another EEG to be conducted in next day or so to allow us to see where we stand on possibly waking up.

We are sorry for the lengthy time since the last update was given. We have been dealing with some issues or taking care of some business regarding Tabatha.

April 4, 2017: The past several days have been rathern difficult and required some self reflecting time. So I do apologize for the delayed update but here it is...

Tabatha is still in the medical induced coma due to the seizures she was/is having. The doctors along with myself have sat together and discussed the situation from the start to now and also the future. We have concluded that while she should have made more progress that due to the ongoing seizure activity it has hindered the recovery process! We have done a rework of medication and dosages, we have scheduled the Trach to be placed today (April 4, 2017). This will aid us when we try to wake her to not automatically have her begin to gag/cough due to the intubation tube. We also have decided to have a PEG placed for feedings and to remove the nasal tube, the PEG will be placed in the coming days.
Her temperature is still fluctuating slightly but nothing to concerning to us overall. The neuro exam which is checked daily consist of:
1. Eye reactivity to light
2. Motion of Eyes when head is turned side to side
3. Gag Reflex
4. Pain Reflex

All show the brain stem is intact and operating (not brain dead) these are also the basic functions of the brain but they are also the core survival instincts. These little signs give us the hope that there is possibly to recover.

Donnie, myself and a close relative have discussed the future if the seizures can't not be maintained and controlled. We all 3 know she is a fighter always and still continues to fight.

We have teamed up with a shirt maker to sell some t-shirts, and Sweatshirts and they have agreed to donate the purchase cost to her campaign and also to donate an equal amount to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation in her name. The link to these clothes is:

April 1st 2017 Update: Today I met with the Drs for Tabatha and we decided that we would place her on Dilantin for her seizures and see how they will aid in stopping them from occuring. We are unsure how this will work. We will know the results come Monday. Not much has changed in her overall condition.

Sorry for the delayed updates over past 2 days.

Day 13 March 30, 2017: FINALLY spoke to one of Tabatha Wehrlen's Doctors. He explained that she has been kept in the coma due to continued seizures. Since the seizures began she was on medication for them and when they appeared to subside they lessened the dose and they began again even though they appeared to stop due to reduced swelling slightly in her brain. A few days ago they showed up again so they redid the EEG which again shows seizures ONLY when they reduce the Profadol. In turn Today they did a complete rework on her seizure medication (adding a 3rd and increasing the dosage of the other 2 she is on). Possibly tomorrow they will complete the Dr Order to place the Trach and possible PEG.
Today we also were told she was having issues digesting her liquid food. This is believed to be caused by the sedation and medications but is easily resolved by decreasing the feeding and providing medication for constipation.
Once we can get her seizures under control we can hopefully wake her and HOPEFULLY be able to get an assessment done of her neuro level. There is no definite to this as we might have to allow the seizure medication more time to take effect. We continue to cross our fingers and pray for a recovery from this ordeal.
