Breaking Down Misconceptions, Lifting Up Hope.

❌ MYTH: “Talking about substance use encourages it.” ✅ FACT: Open, honest education reduces risk, delays first use, and prevents overdoses. Silence is what harms.

Did you know that each February our Prevention team hosts a Winter Bash? This event, in collaboration with the City of Rome and the Oneida County Su***de Prevention Coalition, aims to provide local youth and their families with a day of fun and free activities during the mid-winter break.

⛸️ This upcoming Winter Bash will be held on Thursday, February 19th 2026 at Kennedy Arena in Rome from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Families will enjoy a variety of activities, including ice skating, crafts, giveaways, and live music – all inclusive for our youth with community tabling showcasing how important prevention and services are at an early age.

🤝🏻 Help us break the silence and build informed, resilient communities. Your donation funds lifesaving training, youth programs, and overdose prevention tools. Scan the QR code or click here to donate now: http://www.whenthereshelpthereshope.com/donate-3/

💜 Donate today because prevention starts with you and carries on with us… because when there’s help, there’s hope.

Earlier this morning, Cristi Kaido and Chelan Vanno visited Center for Family Life and Recovery to present their donation from Sip & Sound: Holiday Mindful Mixer, along with proceeds from Cristi’s book, The 12 Sips of Christmas. 🤍

Sip & Sound was a beautiful collaboration between The Mindful Mixer and The Portal - Utica blending mindful mocktails, sound healing, and community connection — all in support of recovery, resilience, and wellness.

We are incredibly honored to have been chosen as the nonprofit beneficiary for this initiative.

Partnerships like this remind us how powerful community-driven wellness can be, and how creativity and connection can come together to support hope and healing across Central New York.

We are so grateful to Cristi, Chelan, and everyone who attended, supported, and made this event possible.

Dispelling Myths, Inspiring Hope.

❌ MYTH: “We only need to act when someone hits rock bottom.”
✅ FACT: Prevention programs - education, early intervention, and harm reduction - save lives long before a crisis arrives.

Take Back Days occur twice a year (April and October) and allow residents to safely dispose of unused or expired medications, helping reduce harm, prevent misuse and protect families, neighbors, and the environment. CFLR hosts this initiative in collaboration with the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Oneida County Opioid Task Force, Oneida County Health Department, and Utica police departments to reduce the availability of opioids in the community, promote public safety, and support long-term prevention efforts across Oneida County.

🤝🏻 Prevention saves lives before crisis happens. Invest in prevention today to stop tragedies tomorrow. Scan the QR code or click here to donate now: http://www.whenthereshelpthereshope.com/donate-3/

💜 Your support expands programs and events that keep families whole and communities safer. Give now to continue making prevention possible and powerful!

🚗December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month, and we're teaming up with the National Safety Council to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence.

Did you know that approximately 32% of traffic fatalities in New York involve alcohol? Let’s work together to change that!

At CFLR, we offer a variety of programs to help prevent impaired driving, from in-school prevention services and Narcan training to family support and community awareness efforts. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone.

2025 Erin’s Light Heart Warming Campaign

On December 18th, in just an hour and a half, Center for Family Life and Recovery was honored to spread holiday spirit and warmth to 250 men and women experiencing housing insecurity and/or mental health and substance use challenges. In addition, we provided 100 holiday bags to youth in our Prevention and Family Treatment Court Programs.

A heartfelt thank you to the Rescue Mission for helping us deliver the bags, and to Sheriff Robert Maciol, Assemblyperson Marianne Buttenschon and Chelan Vanno, The Portal for coming out to support our community — you truly are stars.

It is an honor for CFLR to continue keeping Erin Lopez’s Light flowing to those in need. This is her legacy, and we are grateful to be the vessels that carry her light forward. 💚💜

Myth-Busting with a Message of Hope.

❌ MYTH: “Recovery happens on its own.”
✅ FACT: Recovery happens when someone has a safe place to land, a support system, and a path forward.

Through CFLR’s annual Light of Hope event, our Recovery team creates a space of remembrance, compassion, and courage - honoring those we have lost while reaching out to those still fighting. It is a gentle reminder that healing begins when someone knows they are seen, supported, and never alone.

🤝🏻 Your gift fills the gap between crisis and stability. Every dollar opens doors to treatment and helps someone stay the course. Scan the QR code or click here to donate now: http://www.whenthereshelpthereshope.com/donate-3/

💜 Donate today because recovery is stronger when the community stands behind it!
