Strong, consistent state investment is essential to maintaining quality care for people with intellectual & developmental disabilities and their families.

👉 Send a prewritten email to your representatives urging them to support CCOs here: https://www.cmany.net/new-news-and-advocacy #/

As the One-House budgets are developed, we respectfully urge Senator Jamaal T. Bailey, Senator Nathalia Fernandez, Senator Roxanne Persaud, Senator Samra Brouk, Hon. Gustavo Rivera, and Senator Cordell Cleare to consider the restoration of Care Coordination Organizations (CCOs) as an included provider type within the Human Services Targeted Inflationary Increase. We thank you for your continued support and advocacy for the IDD community.

New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities We're excited to see this important investment in healthcare for people with developmental disabilities across New York State.

The expansion of disability health clinics supported by Governor Kathy Hochul and state lawmakers' $25 million investment will help improve access to specialized, person-centered care for individuals and families.

This is a meaningful step forward that will benefit LIFEPlan CCO members and communities throughout the state!

Recent federal immigration policy changes may be causing stress and uncertainty for people with developmental disabilities, families, and providers. New York State has shared guidance and resources to help organizations understand their rights and support their communities. We encourage providers to review emergency plans and stay informed.

New York faces an ongoing DSP (direct support professional) workforce crisis that threatens access to essential services.

The proposed NY state budget includes a 1.7% increase for disability service providers — but the cost of delivering these services is rising much faster. A 2.7% targeted inflationary adjustment would more accurately reflect real‑world expenses and help agencies keep up.

We stand with New York Disability Advocates (NYDA) in calling for fair, competitive wages and benefits, housing and childcare supports, and critical infrastructure investments. Agencies need the resources to recruit and retain the DSPs who make community living possible.

đź“… The NYDA Capital Rally on March 10th is a key opportunity to urge legislators to support this needed adjustment.

This Black History Month, we recognize Vilissa Thompson, founder of Ramp Your Voice, for advocating for equity, access, and representation for disabled people. Vilissa has fought to make sure disability inclusion isn’t treated like an afterthought, and that people with disabilities are seen as leaders, voters, creators, and decision-makers. Her work reflects what person-centered support should look like: listening to people first, honoring choice, and creating real opportunities.

CCOs provide essential support to people with IDD and their families.

For the third year in a row, CCOs were excluded from the proposed Human Services Targeted Inflationary Increase. Without this funding, CCOs must continue critical work with fewer resources, increasing workforce strain and risking service stability.

👉 Speak up for the IDD community and send a letter to lawmakers here: https://www.cmany.net/new-news-and-advocacy #/

As the One-House budgets are developed, we respectfully urge Andrea Stewart-Cousins, State Senator Liz Krueger, and Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton to consider the restoration of CCOs as an included provider type within the HS Targeted Inflationary Increase.

Thank you Senator Patricia A. Fahy for championing these initiatives and advocating for the IDD community.

As part of Care Management Alliance of New York, Inc. (CMANY), we are advocating to protect and strengthen supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This includes:

đź’  Reinstating CCOs in the Human Services Targeted Inflationary Increase
đź’ Updating medication rules (A.7284/S.6334) so trained DSPs can administer routine medications
đź’ Creating a Medicaid option that trains and compensates family caregivers

CMANY’s one‑click advocacy tool makes it easy to contact State elected officials and ask them to support these priorities. 👉 Take Action: https://www.cmany.net/new-news-and-advocacy #/

We honor Lois Curtis this Black History Month for helping change the future of disability rights in the U.S. Through the landmark case Olmstead v. L.C., Lois helped affirm a powerful truth: people with disabilities should not be forced into institutions when they can live and thrive in the community with the right supports. That legacy directly connects to our mission today, supporting people with IDD to build meaningful, self-directed lives in the communities they choose.

The R-Word has been used for far too long to demean and alienate people with disabilities.
It’s not just a word—it’s a weapon that impacts social inclusion and self-esteem. It’s time to speak up and stop the hurt.

Read what ACANY and LIFEPlan members have to say about the resurfacing of the R-word and take the pledge to contribute to kinder and more inclusive spaces- in the classroom, on social media, and beyond!
