Samantha Gossin, RN, is a DAISY Award winner!

Her nominator, a patient from the Sixth Floor - West at the Wynn Hospital, had this to say:

“Sam has been incredible outside of her extraordinary knowledge and expertise. It is obvious she is a wonderful person who cares deeply about her patients. She is extremely kind and it has been incredibly comforting knowing she has my best interest in mind. Sam does an incredible job of making her patients feel like they are her top priority. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way because I made friends with a couple of other patients who all had wonderful things to say about her.

I have a two-year-old daughter who was unable to come to my room to visit due to her age. This was the hardest part about being stuck in the hospital for me, and I could tell Sam was extremely empathetic. She recommended my daughter come to see me and Sam would bring me down to the lobby to visit her. She did this multiple times taking the time out of her busy day to ensure I could spend some time with my daughter. Samantha went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable, happy, safe and taken care of. I have had nurses that are there just to do their job, but Sam makes it clear that she really cares and is passionate about what she does. She is an amazing nurse and person.”

Congratulations Samantha!

Jaida Demma, RN, is a DAISY Award winner! Her nominator, a patient on the Seventh Floor at the Wynn Hospital, had this to say:

“She always comes in with a smile on her face and has a way of making her patients feel important and special. She goes out of her way to make her patients comfortable and gives them whatever happiness she can. Her soothing personality makes everyone feel better; she enters the room like a ray of sunshine. I am 81-years-old, she makes me feel important and noticed, she assesses my needs without me even having to ask. She's like a special friend or like a relative.

I came into the hospital kind of in an emergency. When I had to stay, I was slightly distressed because I had not packed a bag with essentials. She volunteered to take a list of what I would like and stopped and picked up things for me and brought them to me before her next shift in the morning – which she did. I came from a family of doctors, pharmacists and nurses. So I know an exceptional one when I met her. She demonstrates compassion. I have observed her with other patients and she is spot on. She deserves some recognition.”

Congratulations Jaida!

Kathryn Dickson, RN, is a DAISY Award winner!

Kathryn is a nurse in the ICU at the Wynn Hospital. Her nominator had this to say:

“I was orienting with Katie on 3E and we were taking care of a patient two days in a row with a complicated case. Our second day taking care of our patient we found out that our patient lived at home alone with no family in the surrounding area. The patient then told us that she had a cat at home, and the patient was very worried about her cat because there was no one to go and check on/take care of the cat. Katie spent hours of time beyond her regular nursing duties to help this patient get help for her cat. Katie was able to coordinate with the patient's family so that the patient's dad could pick up the cat and take care of it while the patient was in the hospital. Katie has such a big heart and takes care of her patients so meticulously, she deserves to be recognized. Everyone who works with Katie would say the same thing, she is an excellent nurse and overall a good person with a great heart.”

Congratulations Kathryn!
