“The Jazzercise’s Get in Gear 90 Day Challenge wasn’t about how much I lost (13 pounds, yeah me!), but so much more about what I gained. I gained healthy and mindful eating habits through nutrition classes and weekly check-ins and support from nutritionist Lisa Taylor, RD, LDN. We used the app, Eat Love, throughout the challenge. This app not only helps plan and track healthy meals and snacks, it also provides delicious healthy recipes and ideas and then emails a shopping list of ingredients for your weekly grocery store visit. As I lost weight, I gained muscle through fitness classes centered on dance, which I absolutely love, and through classes focused just on strength training, weights, and bodyweight exercises like planks and push-ups. Finally, I gained motivating, inspirational, and positive support and friendship from fellow Jazzers trekking on their own journeys through the 90 Day challenge. These women who drank 170 (!) ounces of water in one day, or walked/ran/climbed over 20,000 steps almost every day of the week (!), or who ate bok choy and mandarin quats for the first time during fruit and vegetable challenge week, I am truly in awe and inspired by you all. A huge thank you to each and every Jazzercise instructor who makes teaching classes seem so effortless when really there is so much planning and thought that goes into every class. And a huge shout out to Allison Brown for creating a healthy, motivating challenge designed and adaptable to real life and for your tireless efforts every single day to keep Jazzercise in our lives.
