How does Vail Health invest in the local community? By focusing on initiatives that support access to care, whole-person health, community partners, financial assistance, and clinical education and research, we're able to keep dollars local and invest in the communities we serve. In 2024, $14.2 million of the total $34 million that Vail Health invested in our community was spent on patient financial assistance and Medicaid shortfall. When unexpected car trouble made it hard to cover rent, Hailey Baker, a Howard Head Sports Medicine team member, felt the stress weighing on her. She remembered hearing about the Vail Health Employee Support Fund at a town hall meeting—but hesitated, unsure if she really qualified or if the process would be complicated.

She decided to apply anyway. Within hours, she was approved. "I just had to ask," Hailey said. "It was amazing to have that assistance available and to be supported by so many people who don't necessarily know me."

The Employee Support Fund is made possible through generous donations from community members, including fellow Vail Health employees. Because of your generosity, team members like Hailey can get financial help when they need it most.

When research, innovation, and community come together, meaningful progress happens. We’re excited to continue our partnership with SPRI and our shared commitment to advancing care.

SPRI and Vail Health have renewed their longstanding partnership with a new five-year commitment to advance medical research and innovation across the Mountain West communities.

Building on a successful decade-long collaboration, this renewed agreement supports continued discovery in regenerative medicine, orthopaedics, cancer and behavioral health.

Together, SPRI and Vail Health have helped establish critical research infrastructure, launched pilot studies that grew into NIH and DoD-funded clinical trials and translated scientific findings into patient-centered care.

The next phase of this partnership will expand ongoing collaborations in cancer and behavioral health research while exploring new areas aligned with both organizations, including healthy aging, longevity and improving healthspan.
