The Arc-Solano The Arc-Solano provides support services to people with developmental disabilities in their community This program has been in operation since 1986.

The Arc-Solano currently has three programs that support our consumers. Alternatives in Curriculum & Training (ACT) is an on-site day training and activity program with a behavioral emphasis designed to meet the needs of the consumer with a dual diagnosis of developmental disability and a mental health disability. Transitional Services (TS) is an independent community-based living skills program.

The program's focus is to instruct consumers in natural environments, aka their community. From household management to self-advocacy, from budgeting to appropriate sexuality, almost all of the human experience is part of our curriculum. Our newest program, Tailored Day Services (TDS), is a customized, community-based day program for consumers who want to pursue volunteerism, higher education, and/or employment. Instructor to consumer ratio is ranges from 1:1 to 1:3, depending on the activity. Our consumers participate in a wide range of activities, from online college to work crews to selling their crafts at local businesses, to volunteering at local agencies like the Humane Society, the library, and St. Vinnie's community garden. Our value-added programs include Art@Arc, which provides consumers with a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental atmosphere in which to explore their creative voices, Tuesday morning theater, and our literacy program.

Wow wow wow! We were on 🔥🔥🔥 with our Upcycled Fashion Show, as part of the Earth Daze festival! And now to announce the winners...

Best Team Theme: Oceans Returned!!!
Best Individual Catwalk: Racheal!!!
Best Overall Look: Luis!!!

We had 7 teams with 19 models who strutted their stuff down the catwalk. Each team consisted of staff and program participants; over the last 4 months, they designed and produced each look from found/repurposed/recycled materials.

We want to say THANK YOU to our judges- Genesis Miguel (our Board Secretary), Ana from Recology Vallejo, and Amy, owner of Ginger Wax Skincare and Spa in downtown Vallejo. We also want to give a shout-out to the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum- we love holding our events at this location.

Staff and participants then celebrated our amazing day with an after-party at the Mare Island Brewery/Coal Sheds. What a fantastic day!

Today, we were happy to help Soroptimist International of Vallejo with their support of Food is Free Bay Area! SI Vallejo donated funds to purchase feminine hygiene products to distribute on Thursdays, along with the food distribution. Tamara and Stacey volunteered with SI Vallejo members to pass out the period products, plus diapers and wipes, at the county fairgrounds this afternoon. We look forward to partnering again!

Today was the Legislative Lunch, hosted by North Bay Regional Center's Public Policy and Client Advisory Committees. The Arc-Solano was in attendance! Stacey, who is part of the Public Policy Committee, helped organize the event, and our staff and Program Participants attended. We want to give a HUGE shoutout to our participant, Sahira, who spoke at the event about the impact regional center services have had on her life. She did AMAZING!
Thank you to all the wonderful people who made this event happen, including folks from United Cerebral Palsy of the North Bay, Bayberry, Inc., Milestones of Development Inc, Alchemia, Napa Valley Support Services, Vine Village, self-advocates, NBRC staff, and everyone else!!

Over the past few months, Arc-Solano program participants have been hard at work reimagining clothing and materials into fresh, fashion-forward looks — and now it’s time to see them shine.
