On February 16th I was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP). My immune system attacks my platelets. ITP affects roughly 3 in 100,000 people annually and there is no cure. It can cause bleeding and bruising issues, intense fatigue, brain fog, and joint pain due to inflammation. I foresee nothing changing at the office. Although there may be days that I seem off or in discomfort. It takes a village and I’m blessed to be surrounded by my VFCC family.

With the dangerous windchill 🌬️ tomorrow, the boss has decided that everyone should stay all bundled up at home. She will be calling all scheduled patients today to make arrangements.

Real talk time. We all know how the weather in Ks can be and it appears that it's going to be pretty spicy for the next several days. That being said, Dr Vickie loves to see all of her lovely patients but not at the expense of their safety. Her crystal ball is also cracked, so no telling if we will have office hours Monday. If you have a scheduled appointment and the weekend gets extra spicy, don't be surprised to get a call to reschedule your appointment.

Thank you Topeka Cat Cafe for letting Dr Vickie spend some time cuddling your residents today! It was a nice break between appointments. Some of the best self care I’ve had in a while! 🐈💜
