An estimated 14% of individuals living in St. Joseph County don’t have access to enough nutritious food to live a healthy life. Our neighbors 65 and older are especially at risk due to fixed monthly incomes and rising living costs. This underscores the importance of funders like Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, Indiana.

The Community Foundation of St. Joseph County recently awarded HealthLinc a grant to support our Senior Food as Medicine program, helping fight food insecurity for 50 of our senior patients in St. Joseph County. These funds will allow us to provide monthly food boxes, produce vouchers and cooking classes to help improve health outcomes.

While these funds often support special programming, like our community health workers and quality initiatives, they do not fully cover the cost of operating our assistance programs. That’s why grants and fundraising matter so much.

🚨 HealthLinc needs your help! 🚨

For 30 years, HealthLinc has been providing care to northern Indiana, including uninsured and underinsured patients. We can make this care affordable due to programs like the 340B Drug Pricing Program – which allows us to purchase prescription medications at a lower rate and invest those savings into our communities, all without costing taxpayers anything.

Right now, HealthLinc, other community health centers and safety net providers are at risk of losing access to this program. If that happens, our communities could lose access to affordable care and life-saving medications.

We need YOUR voice.

Without our Senators’ support, HealthLinc could lose $3.5 million in funding, forcing cuts to services that more than 56,000 local Hoosiers rely on.

Here’s how you can help:

➡️ Click on your Senator (look at the image below if you’re unsure who represents you).

On average, about 1 in 6 people in St. Joseph County struggle with food insecurity, meaning they do not have access to enough food due to a lack of resources. HealthLinc knows that, to live a healthy life, we need a well-balanced, nutritious diet. With generous support from The Pokagon Fund, HealthLinc provided 32 St. Joseph County patients with an emergency food box and ensured they had access to HealthLinc’s Food as Medicine resources, such as dietitian support and cooking-on-a-budget resources.
