Yesterday we honored former resident and artist, Stu Walesh, at the opening reception of his exhibit Drawing on the Past. Nearly 100 guests joined us to celebrate Stu’s life and the memories he captured so beautifully through his work. 🖌️
Stu, a beloved member of the Pines Village community, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025. His family proudly stepped in to celebrate his life and share insights on Stu's philosophy on life and art. The reception also became a heartfelt gathering of friends and family who came to remember the joy he brought to so many. ✨
The exhibit will be on display through January 28, 2026. We welcome the public to see "Drawing on the Past."
Walesh’s drawings reflect the moments, people, and places that shaped him. Each piece begins with a memory. A beloved pet, a meaningful trip, a simple joy. His goal was never to create a “pretty picture,” but to honor the blessings of the past.
Artist Statement
“Every one of my drawings has some special meaning for me. Selecting a subject and beginning to create a drawing helps me recall a person, place, pet, trip, event, etc. that brought joy to me and others. Rather than trying to produce a pretty picture, I try to capture and celebrate past blessings and pleasures. My drawings draw on the past.”
