Here’s a comfort measure I teach in my class that instantly helps during contractions:

💛 Slow, intentional exhaling.
Most people focus on the inhale…
But it’s actually the exhale that relaxes the body, softens tension, and reduces pain.

Try this:
Breathe in gently through your nose
…and exhale longer than you inhale.

This tells your nervous system:
“You’re safe. You can soften. You can open.”

Simple.
Powerful.
Effective.

Did you know…
Most of the discomfort during labor comes from tension, not just contractions.
And tension is usually caused by:
• fear
• uncertainty
• feeling unsupported
• holding your breath
• fighting the intensity instead of working with it

This is why comfort measures work so well.
They don’t “take labor away”…
They help your body and brain stay calm enough to let labor work.

In my Comfort Measures in Labor Class, you’ll learn how to:
🌿 release tension in your jaw, shoulders, and pelvis
🌿 use breath to soften intensity
🌿 create rhythm and movement that reduce pain
🌿 keep your baby aligned and rotating
🌿 help your partner support you clearly and confidently

When your body feels safe, labor becomes more manageable.
Sometimes… even easier.

Merry Christmas, beautiful families! 🎄✨

If you’re expecting your first baby, today might feel extra magical… and maybe a little overwhelming. You might be wondering what labor will really be like, what’s normal, and how you’ll know what to do when the day finally comes.

Here’s the truth:
Birth doesn’t have to be confusing or scary when you understand the real process — not the dramatic movie version, not the TikTok snippets… but the grounded, physiological truth of how babies are born.

In my Childbirth Education Classes, I break everything down simply and clearly so you walk into labor thinking:
💛 “Okay… I get this now.”
💛 “I know what each stage looks and feels like.”
💛 “I know when to go to the hospital.”
💛 “I know what’s normal.”
💛 “I know how to stay calm.”

No surprises.
No panic.
Just confidence and clarity for one of the biggest days of your life.

✨ Start the new year with knowledge and empowerment.

✨ This holiday season… give yourself the gift of confidence. ✨

If you're expecting your first baby and feeling a mix of excitement and “Oh my gosh… what is labor even going to be like?”, you’re not alone.

Most first-time parents walk into birth scared because they don’t know what to expect.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.

My Childbirth Education Classes take you from unsure → prepared, from anxious → confident, and from “I hope I can handle this” → “I KNOW I can.”

Imagine walking into labor knowing:
🌿 what contractions actually do
🌿 how each stage of labor feels
🌿 what’s normal (and what’s not)
🌿 how to stay calm and grounded
🌿 how to work with your body, not against it

You deserve a birth experience that feels empowered, supported, and informed.

Your journey starts here.

Still pregnant over the holidays? Here’s how to find calm in the waiting. 💛

It can be tough watching everyone celebrate while you’re still pregnant, especially if you thought your baby would be here by now. But remember — your baby’s timing is perfect, even if it doesn’t fit the calendar. 🌿

Here’s how to make the most of this magical pause:
🕯 Find quiet joy. Light candles, sip cocoa, and enjoy the peace before life changes.
💆‍♀️ Rest when you can. Your body is still doing big work — every hour counts.
💬 Set boundaries. It’s okay to say, “We’ll share baby news when the time comes.”
📖 Reflect and connect. Write a letter to your baby or revisit your affirmations.

This waiting isn’t wasted time — it’s your sacred in-between, where preparation becomes transformation.

In my Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes, we talk about how to stay grounded and patient through the waiting game — trusting your body and your baby’s wisdom. 💫

✨ Breathe. Rest. Trust the process.

🌿 Myth-Buster Monday

“You should schedule an induction or cesarean so your doctor isn’t on holiday.” 🎄

❌ Not true — and not a reason to rush your baby’s arrival.

While holiday schedules can make things feel complicated, your care should always be based on medical need and your own informed choices — not convenience.
Your baby’s final days in the womb are vital for growth, brain development, and lung maturity. 🌸

If your provider suggests scheduling, ask:
💬 Is there a medical reason for this timing?
💬 What are the benefits and risks of waiting?
💬 Can we monitor baby and allow labor to start naturally?

You have the right to understand your options and make the decision that feels right for you.

In my Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes, I teach families how to ask the right questions, understand evidence-based care, and feel confident advocating for their birth wishes — even during the holidays. 💛

✨ Your baby knows the perfect time to arrive.

🕯 Fourth Sunday of Advent ✨
💛 Affirmation Sunday

The final candle of Advent represents Love — the foundation of everything we do as parents, partners, and caregivers. 💛

As you prepare to welcome your baby, remember that love is your greatest strength.
It’s the calm in each breath, the courage in each contraction, and the connection that carries you through every moment of uncertainty. 🌿

Affirmation:

I give birth with an open heart, courage, and trust. 💫

Let this week be filled with tenderness — toward yourself, your baby, and your body. Love is the light that guides you home to the most important thing of all: connection.

In my Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes, we explore how love and trust can transform the birth experience — turning fear into empowerment and pain into purpose.

🌸 Share Your Story Saturday

Every birth story is powerful — and everyone is different. 💛

Some births are fast, some are long. Some begin naturally, some with medical support. Some are filled with laughter, others with tears. All are brave. All are valid. 🌿

Sharing your story helps you process your experience, connect with others, and remind new parents that there’s no one right way to give birth.

✨ Whether you’ve already welcomed your baby or are still waiting to meet them — your journey matters.

In my Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes, I create space for open conversation and shared stories, because learning from one another is one of the most beautiful parts of preparing for birth.

💬 I’d love to hear from you — what surprised you most about your birth or postpartum experience?

About Sabine Hankiewicz CD(DONA)

My name is Sabine Hankiewicz. I was born in Austria, Europe. I am a mother of two (raised three) and always loved anything that had to do with pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and breastfeeding. After moving to North America, I decided to make my dream a reality and became a doula.
