March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month — “We’re Here: Then, Now, Always.”
This March, we join the nationwide movement led by the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD) to celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and the powerful 2026 theme: “We’re Here: Then, Now, Always.”
The theme recognizes a powerful truth:
People with developmental disabilities have always been part of our communities — and always will be.
It also reflects the full journey of the disability community:
Then: A time when many people with developmental disabilities were separated, excluded, or unseen in community life.
Now: Individuals are living full, vibrant lives — working, volunteering, building friendships, contributing to their neighborhoods, and shaping their communities.
Always: A future where belonging, inclusion, and community living are protected and supported for generations to come.
