November is National Runaway Prevention Month also known as Youth Homelessness Outreach, Prevention, and Education (HOPE) Month. Each year, an estimated 4.2 million young people between the ages of 13 and 25 experience homelessness in the United States. These are a great number of stories of courage, resilience, and survival due to young people leaving unsafe homes, seeking refuge wherever they can, and trying to build a better future.

This month is about raising awareness and educating about youth homelessness and the importance of prevention, as well as increased knowledge of resources for help. Every youth deserves safety, stability, and care. If you or someone you know is seeking resources and services, we have advocates standing by that are affirming to all identities please call our hotline and talk to one of our advocates today!

Movember proposes a cultural transformation: that self-care, empathy, and open communication about health become part of male identity. Growing a mustache in November is just the beginning; the essential element is the commitment to staying informed, getting regular medical checkups, and taking care of your mental health as well.
Prevention saves lives, but it requires breaking silences and changing deeply ingrained beliefs. Every conversation counts, every checkup matters, and every gesture of support can make a difference. This November—and every month—let’s remember that true strength lies in taking care of ourselves, speaking up, and acting in time.
Through our work, StrengthUnited supports families, prevents sexual and domestic violence, and provides healing and support to survivors of abuse. Our goal is to transform a traumatic event in the life of an individual or family into a source of strength.
