Consider this: Low-fat, low-protein breast milk means frequent wakings for frequent feeds. This is fuel for brain development and is SIDS-protective. We are primates, not hooved animals, and we are meant to sleep lightly, wake often, and we depend on human care. What makes this so challenging is our nuclear family arrangement, and a lack of extra arms for carrying and soothing and loving. If those extra arms aren’t built into your family system, consider reaching out to friends and professionals for postpartum support. This stage won’t last forever, so whatever help you can gather to find the most joy and space for recovery will grace you for years to come. 🎥 c/o .elle

A LOVELY review from couple that we learned from as much as we taught... There are a few spaces left for our upcoming Childbirth Class, please help us to spread the word!

Erin Kruse recommends The Birth Co-op: "We took the Birth Co-op's Childbirth Education class and can't recommend it enough. Janet and Rachel are so lovely and knowledgeable and helped ease a lot of our fears and negativity surrounding labor and early parenting. My husband and I both finished the course feeling confident, informed, and even excited for childbirth and newborn life! All of their techniques and mantras will be revisited through the years as we grow our family - which is truly a priceless gift and blessing. We can't say enough about our love for Janet, Rachel, and The Birth Co-op!"

Reflect on a time in your life when an adult treated you in a way you want to emulate as a parent. Our positive role models are not always our parents, but most of us were lucky enough to have had someone who could really see us, and took the time to let us know. Reflecting and imprinting upon this can strengthen our sense of being ready for parenthood. 📷 c/o handinhandparenting
