Signs of shoulder impingement include:
· Pain when lifting the arm above shoulder level
· Swelling or tenderness in the shoulder
· Weakness or reduced range of motion
· Pain that worsens with repetitive overhead activity

Early recognition helps prevent tendon damage.

Shoulder impingement occurs when the rotator cuff tendons rub on a spur on the acromion above particularly when the arm is elevated above shoulder level.

Did you know the MCL makes up 24% of all knee injuries?

This important ligament supports your knee and protects it from sideways motion and twisting, yet it’s often overlooked next to the ACL.

While many MCL injuries heal with rest, bracing, and therapy, surgery may be needed when the ligament is completely torn or heals in a lax position.

MCL reconstruction involves harvesting a graft from the patient (an autograft) or an allograft (from a donor) to reconstruct the damaged ligament.

Sharp pain in your shoulder after a heavy lift or sports move? You might have a pectoral tear.

Look for:
· Sudden front shoulder pain
· Swelling & bruising
· Possible visible deformity

Dr. Getelman can restore strength and correct the tear with pectoralis major repair, ideally within 3 months. Even older injuries can often be repaired, sometimes with tendon grafting.

Injuries to the pectoralis major muscle, the “pecs,” typically occur during heavy lifting activities that require contraction.

While most ACL reconstructions heal successfully, some patients struggle to regain full range of motion.

One cause may be a Cyclops lesion which is a small scar tissue nodule that forms near the ACL graft and blocks full extension of the knee.

This condition affects about 4% of ACL patients and often requires arthroscopic surgery for relief. Dr Getelman specializes in diagnosing and treating Cyclops lesions to help patients fully recover motion and function.

Limitation of ROM post ACL cyclops lesions have been reported to occur in about 4% of ACL reconstruction patients, which limits knee range of motion.

That snapping or grinding feeling behind your shoulder blade? It might be more than just “tight muscles.”

It could be scapulothoracic bursitis, or snapping scapula, caused by inflammation between the shoulder blade and chest wall.
· Pain behind the shoulder blade
· Grinding or popping sounds
· Often triggered by overuse or weak shoulder muscles

If your shoulder is making more noise than your playlist, it’s worth getting it looked at.

Snapping scapula typically begins when the soft tissues between the shoulder blade and chest wall thicken and become inflamed from overuse.
