Not all pain needs more rest. Sometimes it just needs the right plan.

This patient came to us after injuring the front of her leg, leading to significant swelling and ongoing pain. It had been bothering her for months and was beginning to affect her ability to stand upright and walk comfortably, even causing neurological-type symptoms.

After a detailed evaluation, the primary issue became clear.

Most of her symptoms were not coming from a deeper structural injury, but from the amount of swelling present in the lower leg.

That changed the plan completely.

We focused first on reducing the swelling using our compression system, then worked on retraining the surrounding muscles to stabilize the ankle and restore normal movement.

Once the root problem was addressed, everything started to improve quickly.

In just about three weeks, her symptoms fully resolved. No pain. No neurological complaints. Back to walking normally again after dealing with this for months.

That is the power of an accurate diagnosis and a focused plan of care.

She is now back to doing what she loves, staying active and consistent with her walking program.

We’re also grateful she trusted the recommendation to come see us. That first step made all the difference.

Playing through pain isn’t a long-term solution.

This athlete came to us with ongoing back pain that was limiting her ability to perform, especially in a position that required prolonged bending during softball.

After a detailed evaluation, the issue became clear.

She was dealing with lumbar instability and weakness, along with expected areas of tightness that were contributing to her symptoms.

From there, the focus was simple but intentional.

We worked on building strength and stability through her core and lumbar spine, then progressed that into functional, sport-specific movements tailored to her position on the field.

Not just getting her out of pain, but preparing her to perform.

Now, she’s heading into the season pain-free and moving better than before.

That’s always the goal. Not just recovery, but improved performance and reduced risk of future injury.

We’re grateful she made the drive from Gautier to trust our team with her care.

Some people don’t slow down. They just find a way forward.

This patient is one of a kind. If you’ve met her, you know exactly who she is. Kind, energetic, and full of life. She has a deep love for children from her years as an educator, and she’s the type of person who stays busy just because she enjoys it. Sitting still is not in her nature.

She first came to us trying to avoid back surgery.

We worked to stabilize her spine and give her every opportunity to improve conservatively. She put in the effort, but despite doing everything right, she wasn’t able to fully get where she needed to be.

Eventually, she underwent a minimally invasive procedure that, thankfully, went better than expected and did not require a lumbar fusion.

That’s when things changed.

When she returned to therapy, we were able to take things to the next level. This time, the focus was building full spinal stability and progressing her strength further than before.

And she took off.

She embraced every challenge, progressed into advanced strengthening, and pushed herself well beyond expectations for her size and stature.

The result?

She’s now back to living life fully. Pain-free, active, and doing the things she loves. Whether that’s staying busy, cleaning, or even climbing up into a play structure to keep up with kids, she’s not holding back.

In many ways, she’s stronger now than she was before her injury.

That’s always the goal.

Not just getting people out of pain, but helping them come back better.

We’re grateful we got to be part of her journey. She brought energy into the clinic every time she walked in, and she will definitely be missed.

If you’ve been trying to push through something that just isn’t improving, there may be a better path forward.

Strong message here from Dr. Ben Prince, and something we see play out every single day in our clinic.

This is a big part of why Jones Physical Therapy feels different.

We don’t just treat injuries. We build real relationships with our patients.

And over time, that matters more than most people realize.

For some individuals, that hour in our clinic is the only meaningful interaction they have all day.

That’s not something we overlook.

Because healing isn’t just physical. The encouragement, consistency, and human connection we provide often carry just as much weight as the treatment itself.

That’s why people don’t want to leave when they’re done.

And honestly, we value those relationships just as much as they do.

Do you prefer to stay at home instead of meeting up with friends? Are you a loner who prefers to get lost down rabbit holes online than talk on the phone? Don’t go to church or belong to active social groups? If so, you may be risking your health. Even for the otherwise healthy, lack of social con...

Getting cleared to play doesn’t always mean ready to play.

This athlete came to us after a foot fracture that had already been cleared by his physician. He had been in a boot, was discharged, and was expected to return to sports.

But there was one problem. He couldn’t walk normally, let alone play baseball.

His mom trusted her instincts and pushed for physical therapy. That decision made all the difference.

We started by rebuilding his foundation, restoring proper movement, strength, and confidence in his foot and ankle. From there, we progressed him back into sport-specific training so he could safely return to both travel and rec ball, including getting back behind the plate.

Along the way, we uncovered underlying deficits, especially hip weakness, that likely contributed to his injury in the first place. Addressing those didn’t just help him recover. It helped elevate his performance and reduce future injury risk.

Now, he’s back to playing at full speed, arguably better than before.

The best part?
He told us he was actually upset that he had to graduate because he enjoyed coming that much.

That’s the kind of athlete we love working with.
Hardworking, positive, and all-in on getting better.

We’re grateful for the trust from this family and proud of the work he put in every step of the way.

“Before Saying Yes to Back Surgery. Read This!”

🧠 Disc Herniation ≠ Automatic Surgery

Every week, we see patients come in with severe, debilitating pain — the kind that shoots down the leg, burns, tingles, or causes weakness. This is nerve pain, often coming from a disc bulge or herniation pressing on a nerve.

And yes… it can feel scary.

But here’s what most people are not told:

👉 Research consistently shows that the majority of disc herniations improve with conservative care — often within 6–12 weeks.
👉 Many studies suggest 80–90% of patients improve without surgery.

Now here’s the part that surprises people:

🧾 MRIs can show herniated discs even in people with NO pain at all.
So just because you see it on imaging doesn’t always mean surgery is the answer.

💡 So why do so many people get surgery?

Because:

The pain is intense
The MRI “confirms” something is wrong
Surgery can provide faster relief in some cases

But surgery also comes with risks:
⚠️ Scar tissue
⚠️ Adjacent segment issues
⚠️ Recurrent symptoms

📊 And statistically, a significant percentage of patients go on to have additional spine surgeries.
Estimates vary, but research suggests 10–20%+ may require another surgery within several years, depending on the condition and procedure.

🛠️ What we focus on instead:

As Doctors of Physical Therapy, we are trained to determine:

✔️ Is the nerve being compressed in a way that can improve?
✔️ Are symptoms centralizing (moving out of the leg and back toward the spine)?
✔️ Can we mechanically reduce pressure on the nerve through movement and positioning?

Because when those things happen…
👉 That’s your body healing.

⏳ The key takeaway:

Unless there are serious red flags (like progressive neurological loss or certain emergencies),
👉 You deserve to try conservative care first.

Not because surgery is “bad” —
…but because your body is often capable of healing without it.

🙌 If you’re dealing with disc-related pain:

You are NOT broken.
You are NOT alone.
And you likely have more options than you’ve been told.

Another athlete graduation at Jones Physical Therapy.

This young athlete came to us dealing with knee pain during heavy squats, something that had started to limit him in the weight room. As both a wrestler and football player, strength training is a big part of his routine, so getting this resolved was important.

After a detailed evaluation, it was clear there were several factors contributing to the issue. He did have some irritation and limitations around the knees, but we also found weakness and mobility restrictions in the hips that were affecting his squat mechanics. These movement limitations were placing additional stress on his patellar tendons, leading to pain across both knees when squatting.

Rather than just addressing the symptoms, we focused on the full movement chain.

Through a sports-specific program designed by a Doctor of Physical Therapy with extensive training in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, we worked on improving hip strength, mobility, and squat mechanics while also addressing the irritation around the knees. Over several weeks, his form improved, his movement became more efficient, and his discomfort with squatting improved significantly.

Watching athletes commit to the process is always rewarding, and he did exactly that.

And while we can’t take credit for it, we’d like to think maybe the timing helped a little but his wrestling team has been on quite the winning streak lately.

If you know this young man, you know he’s one of a kind. Some people say certain kids have an old soul, and he’s definitely one of them. Hard-working, respectful, and committed to getting better every day.

We’re proud of the effort he put in and grateful he trusted Jones Physical Therapy to help him get back to doing what he loves.

Congratulations on the graduation and keep chasing those goals.

Another graduation at Jones Physical Therapy.

After a post-operative arthroscopic knee surgery, this patient came to us ready to get back to full strength. From the very beginning, one thing was clear, she was a GO-getter.

In fact, she was one of those patients we occasionally have to put the reins on just a little. Her motivation made her want to push hard every single session, and while we love that kind of determination, our role is to guide that effort in a safe and controlled way so healing happens the right way.

Truthfully, those are the patients we love working with.

Physical therapy isn’t just exercises and treatments. A big part of what we do is encouraging and motivating people through the process. But every now and then someone walks through the door who already has that mindset. She showed up ready to work, trusted the process, and gave everything she had throughout her recovery.

And when that happens, the results usually speak for themselves.

As she finished her care, she shared how much she valued the experience here at Jones Physical Therapy and the attention she received during her recovery. Hearing feedback like that means a great deal to our team. We truly value patient feedback; both the good and the constructive because it helps us continue improving the care we provide for our community.

Another graduation.
Another success story.
And another patient we’re incredibly grateful trusted us with their recovery.

Congratulations on the hard work and the outcome, you earned it.

Another great graduation here at Jones Physical Therapy.

This patient came to us with a chronic ankle sprain that simply wasn’t healing. After a detailed evaluation, it was clear that persistent swelling was continuing to stress the injured ligament and preventing the ankle from fully recovering. Our first priority was reducing that swelling and restoring the proper healing environment for the ligament so we could rebuild strength, stability, and confidence in the ankle.

But this story was a little more special than most.

When he walked through the door, it didn’t take long for us to realize he was actually the father of one of Dr. Jones’s childhood best friends. Having grown up in this community, Dr. Jones spent plenty of time around their family over the years, so being able to care for him now meant a great deal.

Moments like this are exactly why Dr. Jones opened Jones Physical Therapy, to serve the people in the community that helped shape who he is today. Being able to give back, help someone overcome limitations, and improve their quality of life is something our team never takes for granted.

He showed up, trusted the process, and did everything asked of him along the way. Not only a great patient, but a strong example of a Godly man filled with faith and character.

We’re grateful he trusted JPT with his care, and we’re proud to see him moving forward stronger.

Congratulations on graduating from physical therapy!
