โจ Mom of the Month! โจ
Each month, we celebrate a mom or family member who plays an important role in their childโs progress. Therapy helps, but true success happens when families stay faithful and consistent at home. ๐
This month, weโre proud to recognize Piper as our M.O.M. (Mom of the Month)! ๐ธ
Therapist [Holly]:
โWhen I first met Piper, she was overwhelmed by her childโs diagnosis. Iโve watched her grow into a confident advocate who goes above and beyond for her child. Iโm so proud of this faithful mom.โ โค๏ธ
M.O.M. [Piper]:
โOne of the most challenging parts of our journey has been navigating Ellieโs medical and developmental needs, especially when the systems meant to support us fall short.
Ellie has heart disease, focal seizures, and autism, and each layer adds to the difficulty of finding clear paths forward. For example, we reached a dead end trying to get a brain scan because she kept pulling off the wires. Even without the scan, the neurologist recommended medication, but without that clarity, I chose to wait, trusting that God will open a way in His time. In the meantime, I monitor her seizures by keeping her in sight at all times.
Finding autism therapy that accepts Medicaid has been nearly impossible, but faith and flexibility have helped me navigate these challenges. When formal therapy was out of reach, I found creative alternatives. I enrolled Ellie in dance and soccer, where she could practice participation and following instructions in a supportive environment. These experiences have helped her grow in ways that feel joyful and meaningful.
Spiritually, I lean into prayer and trust that God sees the full picture even when I cannot. That trust gives me the strength to keep going. Now, as I reflect, I can see how God has crafted our life with intention. The traditional path wasnโt meant for us, and in its place, Heโs led us toward something more personal, more creative, and more attuned to Ellieโs unique needs. That realization brings peace and purpose to the journey, even when itโs hard.โ
Weโre so thankful for moms like Piper who radiate strength, grace, and unconditional love. ๐
