Our first full week of January started with a special guest Teddy Roosevelt , followed by Teddy Hour featuring his favorite mint juleps 🍃🥃.

Midweek, we hosted a Winter Golf Club social, setting up some great outings in the coming months to get through the cold weather together ⛳.

We also visited the newly updated Portland Art Museum, and residents came back glowing .

We wrapped up the week by kicking off our next round of Neighbor Connect socials—our version of a block party for smaller neighborhoods.

✨ A Soulful Start to the New Year ✨
As we welcomed the New Year, our hearts were full. The sounds of NW Transit Band set the tone with timeless Motown and 70’s soul, while friends and neighbors gathered not just to celebrate but to truly connect.
Sharing a champagne toast 🥂 and enjoying an elegant dessert bar reminded us how special this community is. Grateful for the music, the memories, and the incredible people who make this place feel like home.

Do our residents love theater? 🎭
Oh, absolutely—we’re smitten!

From applauding shows Lakewood Center for the Arts, Broadway Rose Theatre Company, and the Keller Auditorium to enjoying a cozy dinner at a favorite local restaurant afterward, we turn every outing into a night of connection and good conversation.

Right here at home, we keep the magic alive with Readers Theater (no memorizing required!). Tomorrow, we’re delighted to share a holiday performance featuring five short plays and a wonderfully large cast, including some new faces. We always play to a full house!

Our community is a warm, welcoming place to explore creativity, try something new, and discover hidden talents—because it’s truly never too late. 🌟

What happens when a group of retired nurses decides they still have more to give? 💙

Three years ago, our residents formed a retired nurses group—and it quickly became something much bigger. Recognizing their shared passion for caring for others, they launched three meaningful programs that are still thriving today: monthly wellness guest speakers, wellness-focused book study series, and a volunteer program connecting residents with our memory care community to build relationships, share activities, and increase joyful visitations.

The group has since blossomed to include residents from a variety of health and wellness backgrounds, creating instant camaraderie and a true sense of belonging across our community.

These photos capture their end-of-year holiday potluck and White Elephant gift exchange—full of laughter, warmth, and yes… their legendary sense of humor. The game was a hit, and of course, a fruitcake made a surprise appearance! 🎁

As we reach mid-December, our community is filled with meaningful moments between residents and team members. This past week, our residents gave a tremendous gift to our team members through their own Employee Appreciation Fund — a tradition they created since tips aren’t allowed in retirement communities.

Watching our housekeeping team light up as they picked up their gift says everything. ❤️

Here, relationships are real, intergenerational, and truly feel like family. Celebrating the holidays together is what makes this community so special.
