In honor of turning 33 yesterday, I wanted to share 33 things I’ve learned through my own journey over the last 5 years….. buuuut I only have room in the caption for 25⁣ 😆

1. It was my relationship w/ food that was the problem, not the food I was eating⁣

2. I don’t need to wait until I hit my goals to love the current body I’m in

3. Some people eat real, raw, cow brains for protein. 🧠 (I do *not* lol.)⁣

4. Motivation is an unreliable source.⁣

5. I didn’t need to spend a dreadful hour a day on the treadmill years ago. Didn’t help anyway⁣

6. I don’t need to get super drunk on vacations to have fun⁣

7. I have MORE fun when I drink less on vacation because I feel 100x more energetic, less bloated, & overall better⁣

8. Not to skip my warm ups⁣

9. I can eat chocolate, bread, or enjoy a cocktail anytime I want, & still achieve the body of my reams doing it🍫🍞🍹⁣

10. I needed to eat a lot more than I thought⁣

11. I can change my tastebuds if I really want to⁣

12. Walking regularly is one of the best things I can do to for my body & mind⁣

13. Moving my body on vacation improves my digestion tremendously⁣

14. I love mangos more than any fruit ever 🥭 ⁣

15. Sometimes friends or family will make judgmental comments, because they don’t understand. Don’t take it personal, teach them why you’re doing it⁣

16. I can reach my ideal body my without purchasing supplements⁣

17. If I sleep less than 7 hours, it greatly impacts me the entire next day⁣

18. Zero calorie processed foods are usually total s**t ingredients. RIP Walden Farms⁣

19. I can eat carbs before bed every night⁣

20. I don’t NEED a gallon of water a day⁣

21. Muscle growth & weight loss both take a lot longer than I want it to⁣

22. I love reading food labels ⁣

23. People in the gym aren’t worried about what I’m doing ⁣

24. Everything we do & feel is derived from our perspective ⁣

25. How to eyeball portion sizes & know their nutritional values⁣

What is something you didn’t expect to learn throughout your own personal health / fitness / self development journey?⁣

I 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 to want to feel good in my clothes. 👗

I had meltdowns in my closet because nothing felt good on me and when I looked in the mirror it didn’t “look good” either.

Turns out, I wanted to feel good in my 𝗦𝗞𝗜𝗡.

If I’m wearing sweats, date night outfit, a bikini, or a Astronaut space suit…. I want to feel good.

Confidence is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 the perfect outfit or the perfect body.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴.

Loving yourself, who you are, what you do *regardless* if anyone else likes it or agrees.

That’s real self-confidence.
That’s feeling good in your skin.

Leg work out + post work out sushi 🍣💪🏼

Before the last 3 weeks, I struggled hard with consistency in all of daily habits that help me feel my best. (𝘌𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺, 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺, 𝘩𝘺𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘦𝘵𝘤) ⁣

I mentioned in a previous post that I started focusing on 1 win per day - to move my body in any way.⁣

Being consistent with moving my body once per day helped me find excitement for exercise again, but also quickly trickled into more habits. ⁣⤵️

Since I’m working out again (𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘵), it naturally forces me to care about how much and how balanced I am eating. I rarely work out without a pre & post meal and just that has helped my entire days worth of nutrition a lot from where I was.⁣ 🙌🏼

Also naturally has me drinking more water too.⁣ 💦

Boom ✨ I focused on 1 thing and it turned into 3. ⁣

That may not always be the case, but if you feel in a similar position as I was a couple months ago, what is 1 small win you can accomplish per day that could easily trickle into other areas?⁣

Did you know your brain stops fully participating in the decision making process once you’ve formed a habit?

It turns it over to your subconscious, which is responsible for 95% of the choices you make every day!

Insane!

This is great, because we need to conserve the headspace for more critical conscious decisions… but, it’s only great 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 to how you want to feel and who you want to be.

Otherwise, 95% of the time you could be working against yourself without realizing it consciously.

A couple months ago, I got down & inconsistent with my own wellness habits. Growth just isn’t linear.

I wasn’t exercising as frequently as I wanted, I wasn’t prioritizing my nutrition as well as I normally do, and overall just started feeling pretty blegh in my body & mind.😕

It felt overwhelming “getting back into my full normal routine” so instead of going trying to accomplish ALL the things…. I started with 1 small win a day.

For me that was moving my body in anyway. Whether it was a walk, a mobility & stretch day, or a lifting work out. Physical movement was my daily priority to get back into the swing.

I knew it would jumpstart me the fastest into feeling more energetic, which would propel me into better eating and mental health habits.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙁𝙀𝙀𝙇 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙛𝙪𝙡.

If you don’t feel good about what you’re doing and you feel overwhelmed trying to get back into eating well, exercising, drinking water, a solid sleep schedule, etc…. ⬇️

~ Pick 1 small habit you can do each day and most importantly celebrate 🎉 yourself when you accomplish it!

That feeling of accomplishment + success leads to wanting more success and accomplishments. Once that 1 small habit starts becoming more habitual (entering that subconscious), add in another small habit that supports how you want to feel. You get build the life you want. 🙏🏼

Do you ever hop in the sauna after a work out?? 💦

It’s been over 2 years since I’ve been in one because I moved and switched gyms. I wanted a good sweat, so I got a 3 day pass to my old gym juuuust to us it. 🤗

Felt A M A Z I N G.

I put a calming meditation in my headphones and closed my eyes to create the ultimate relaxation.. and just sweat my ass off 💦

Did you know hopping in the sauna after your work out enhances the muscle recovery process? 💪🏼

The heat also allows muscles to relax better…. which provides a great opportunity to do some stretching while you’re in there. 2 birds, 1 stone 😉

Studies have shown that the sauna can be great for your cardiovascular health (heart) and lungs as well if you’re dealing with respiratory issues. 🫁❤️

As always, if you have any medical issues consult your doctor first if you’re concerned.

Today marks 3 years since I started my business as a Women’s Health Coach. 🙏🏼

Sunday’s Soup 🥣

Are you a fan of split pea soup?

If so 🔖 Bookmark 🔖 this post right now so you’ve got it handy!

This is the most simple & easy soup ever to make.

High protein & high fiber 🙌🏼

5 simple ingredients ⬇️
🥩 Ham (we used a maple smoked)
💚 Green Split Peas
💧 Water
🧂 Salt
🧂 Pepper

We used a maple smoked ham and I got my split peas in the bulk section to store the rest in jars, but you can also buy a bag - find it near the dry beans.

DIRECTIONS:
🫕 Turn crockpot on high (allow about 4 hours to cook)
💧 Pour in 3 cups water to 1 cup green split pea
▪️ Once it’s been about 2 hours and the peas are all mush soup like chop your ham into small pieces, brown them in a pan for a couple minutes and throw in crockpot to cook for another hour or so.
🧂 add salt and pepper to taste

We paired it with some toasted sourdough bread 🍞🤤😋

Straight peas and ham… can’t get any simpler that that.

Brought some to my sissy and we are having it for leftovers again tonight - might pair it with a sandwich this time 😋
