Feeling immense gratitude for Dr. Frank Corrigan, the developer of Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)! I’ve just completed Level 3 training in this incredible trauma therapy.🧠

DBR works deep in the brain’s survival circuitry, gently releasing shock held at the roots of trauma. Shock can drive experiences such as PTSD, panic, OCD, treatment-resistant depression, attachment trauma, and medically unexplained symptoms. As shock clears, people often feel more space inside—greater ease and sense of wellness, vitality, resilience in the face of stress and triggers, and a deeper connection to themselves and others.

🇺🇸 Thank You, Veterans! 🇺🇸

We honor all who’ve served—and those who continue serving as first responders. About 25% of police, 19% of firefighters, and 10% of EMTs/paramedics are veterans, trading one uniform for another to protect our communities.

Your courage and dedication inspire us every day. 💙

Did you know?

In a 2007 clinical trial, Dr. Bessel van der Kolk found that EMDR therapy was more effective than Prozac in treating PTSD and depression. Both treatments helped at first—but only EMDR led to lasting healing after treatment ended.

✨ EMDR supports deep, long-term recovery rather than short-term symptom relief.

🌙 PTSD doesn’t stop when the day ends.
Even in sleep, the nervous system can stay on alert — replaying unfinished survival responses.

📘 Putting Trauma to Sleep beautifully explores how trauma affects the brain and body during rest — and how healing allows the nervous system to finally settle.

In our work with Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) and EMDR therapy, we support neuromodulation — helping the brain shift from hypervigilance to safety and repair.

When the deep brain can rest, true healing begins. 🌿

Sometimes healing doesn’t start with words — it starts with the body.

We’ve been reading The Sensory Pathway to Healing from Trauma, and it’s such a beautiful reminder that recovery often begins through our senses — touch, movement, rhythm, sound, and connection.

When the body feels safe, the mind can finally rest. 💛

This book offers gentle insight into how we can support the nervous system and reconnect with calm, safety, and presence — one sensation at a time.

📚 Thanks to Ruth Lanius, MD, PhD. and team for a thoughtful read for anyone on a healing journey or curious about how body-based therapies like EMDR, DBR and somatic work help trauma heal from the inside out.

First Responders carry trauma differently—and they need therapy that honors that.
Traditional talk therapy doesn’t always reach the body’s deep survival responses. That’s why Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) can be a game-changer. DBR works with the brainstem—where trauma is first stored—offering a powerful, body-based path to healing without having to relive the worst moments.
If you’re a First Responder (or love someone who is), this is worth a read.

At Vancouver EMDR Therapy & Neurofeedback, we use trauma-focused therapies like EMDR, Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) and LENS Neurofeedback to help the nervous system finally feel safe enough to rest.

✨ Healing trauma is often the key to healing sleep.

Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), a newer, neuroscience-informed therapy approach I’ve been deeply drawn to. Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) was developed by Dr. Frank Corrigan. DBR works with the earliest imprint of our trauma experience—the part that happens before we even know we’re feeling something. It begins with the body registering a threat - milliseconds before our brain has an opportunity to develop thoughts or feelings to interpret the threat. It is a subtle, powerful, and deeply respectful therapy which honors the body’s wisdom.

Our Story

I am a trauma specialist, advocate for survivors, heart healer, and companion on your journey to wellness. I help people who have been hurt and who want to feel whole again but fear that this is not possible.

I help people who want to feel safe again, sleep without nightmares and feel more at ease. I support them so that they can feel like themselves again or get in touch with themselves in a new way. Every day in my office I see hope and healing take place.

I specialize in working with adults with complex trauma, dissociation using a variety of advanced and creative EMDR protocols. I am a Certified EMDR therapist and an EMDR Consultant.

I like to see people smile and be happy. I like to see that “aha” moment when they realize it is not their fault, realizing they are stronger than they thought, and capable of loving themselves and being loved.
