We are dedicated to helping all individuals and families struggling with mental health challenges through education, support, advocacy, and awareness. • Family and social support are essential for recovery
• Family members can learn how to cope and determine
how best to take care of themselves

NAMI advocates for access to mental health services, treatment, and support; we are steadfast in commitment to raising awareness and building a supportive community for individuals and they families who are affected by mental illness.

As the clock turns and a new year begins, we want to remind you of this: you don’t have to start fresh, feel motivated, or have everything figured out at midnight.

The new year can be a moment of hope — but it can also bring reflection, mixed emotions, or uncertainty. However you’re feeling right now is valid. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫, 𝐰𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟.

From all of us at NAMI Southwest Washington, we wish you a year filled with connection, care, and moments of hope — even on the hard days. You don’t have to do this alone. 💙

The end of the year can feel less like a celebration and more like crawling across a finish line after a really long marathon. If you’re exhausted — physically, emotionally, or both — you’re not alone.

School stress, the holidays, and living with a parent who has a mental illness can pile up in ways that most people don’t see. Maybe you’ve been holding it together for everyone else. Maybe you’ve pushed your own feelings aside just to get through each day. It makes sense that you’re tired.

But here’s something important to hear: you made it through this year.
You’re still here. You’re still trying. And that matters more than you probably realize. Read the full post on YouTalkWA.org: https://youtalkwa.com/end-of-year-exhaustion-youve-made-it-this-far-and-that-matters

Mental health conditions affect 1 in 5 adults each year — which means chances are, someone you know (or you yourself) has been impacted.

Yet so many people struggle in silence because of stigma, misunderstanding, or fear of judgment. Talking openly about mental health helps normalize these experiences and reminds people they’re not alone.

Support, understanding, and connection make a real difference. And when we choose compassion over assumptions, we create a community where people feel safer reaching out for help. 💚

Find support when you need it, you don't have to do this alone! https://namiswwa.org/

Christmas can look and feel different for everyone. For some, it’s filled with joy and connection. For others, it may bring stress, grief, loneliness, or complicated emotions — and that’s okay.

Wherever you find yourself today, please remember:
✨ Your feelings are valid.
✨ You deserve kindness, rest, and care.
✨ You are not alone.

From all of us at NAMI Southwest Washington, we wish you moments of peace, warmth, and compassion this Christmas — for yourself and for those around you. And if today feels hard, know that support and understanding are always within reach.

This time of year, it can feel like everyone is celebrating. Lights, decorations, cozy photos, big family moments — it’s everywhere. And when your life doesn’t look like that, it can make the season feel even heavier.

If you’re living with a parent who has a mental illness, the holidays might not feel relaxing or joyful at all.

If that’s your reality, please hear this:
✨ You’re not wrong for feeling the way you do.
✨ You’re not alone.
✨ And you don’t have to force joy you don’t feel.

The holidays are often painted as a time of joy, togetherness, and celebration. But for many people, they are also a season of pressure, exhaustion, anxiety, and emotional overload.

Between financial strain, packed schedules, family dynamics, grief, and unrealistic expectations, it is no surprise that stress levels rise sharply during this time of year.
