This is the face of a woman who loves her work.
This past weekend I had a new client who came in not knowing what to expect from our session. She had called her friend on the way to ask, “What’s this going to be like?” Her friend said, “It’s like a massage, but it’s not a massage.”
If you’ve never experienced a massage that wasn’t a massage from me, then let me tell you more. When a client comes in to my space, they usually have an idea of what they want to work on, such as traumas to release, shifts in belief patterns to integrate, or chronic pain issues. This new client said she’s been working on releasing some traumas, but she didn’t want to chat upfront - she wanted to see what would be revealed on the table. I could tell right away that she was holding her stress and pain in her back, and we’d find out more as we went along.
I tell new clients that sometimes I get questions in my head that may seem random in context to what’s going on. This session was no exception. Once the client was on the table, the first question out of my mouth was whether she had siblings. “Yes, and…” This kicked off the beginning her trauma story. And we followed the threads from there. All along I’m following the energy of where everything was being held in her body - especially her back. She said to me at one point, “When I laid down, my back was hurting - a lot. And now I don’t feel any pain at all.”
By the end of the session, my client had cried, laughed, and was breathing more fully from releasing the tension she had been holding in her back and belly. She had discovered the need to grieve a friend who had taken their own life as well felt validated about her dream of having a child. All starting with a question about siblings!
I commonly hear that my clients feel lighter, more grounded, more energetic, or ready to take the steps that may have been revealed during our session together. And this client, like many others, was filled with gratitude, just as I was grateful and honored to facilitate the healing session for her.
