I learned this the hard way. For 40+ years I thought slim and fit was for ‘those women’. But, when I realized I could simply choose this identity for myself like my favorite dessert on a buffet table, my life changed overnight.

Food isn’t just food. It’s memory, safety, belonging, celebration, escape, and everything in between.
The moment you start seeing your patterns through the lens of identity—not willpower—that’s when things finally shift. That’s when you stop fighting yourself and begin re-parenting the younger version of you who still lives inside your choices and habits.

These habits didn’t come from nowhere. They were shaped by tiny moments, big emotions, and the narratives we absorbed without even realizing it.

Some habits are born out of emotional self preservation.
→ Example: “I snack at night because it’s the only time I feel like no one needs anything from me.”
→ Example: “Food became my comfort because expressing emotions wasn’t safe.”

Some out of survival.
→ Example: “Growing up with food scarcity makes me overeat now even when there’s plenty.”
→ Example: “I learned to finish everything in case it wasn’t there later.”

Some out of environmental influences.
→ Example: “My family always celebrated with takeout, so now celebration = food.”
→ Example: “If everyone around me is dieting or overeating, I match the energy.”

Some through learned social conditions.
→ Example: “Being the ‘fit friend’ forced me into rigid patterns.”
→ Example: “I learned to eat what was offered to avoid being ‘difficult.’”

Some through childhood conditioning (“make sure you eat everything on your plate”).
→ Example: “I feel guilty for not finishing meals, even if I’m satisfied.”
→ Example: “I’ve never learned what comfortable fullness actually feels like.”

Some out of sheer boredom, which feels uncomfortable.
→ Example: “Food becomes entertainment when I have unstructured time.”
→ Example: “I snack to avoid the discomfort of stillness.”

So we have to start to participate with the version of us who has exactly what we want, because ‘she’ does things differently.

This is non-negotiable and most people’s, especially women’s biggest bottleneck when trying to release weight permanently, increase vitality and get in the best shape of their lives. They simply haven’t changed their identity (yet) to BE HER.

We can’t have HER results if we don’t act like her. If we aren’t CLEAR how she eats, lives, thinks and behaves. Not sometimes. On the regular. How does she navigate social situations? Christmas parties, family gatherings when food and drinks flow generously? How does she eat whatever she wants? It’s an art. An identity. It’s freedom in Queen energy. It sounds so simple, yet, so many people are stuck doing the same things expecting a different result. The same diets, the same trend chasing, the same waiting, wondering, hoping, then shaming themselves because it ‘should be easy by now.’

I’d argue, it shouldn’t be easier, because the current identity is doing what it does best. The same things that feel familiar. Your brain is keeping you safe and things predictable while in the same identity you are used to accessing. But, you’ve outgrown that identity, that’s why it hurts when you overeat. When you over-drink. When you mindlessly or habitually eat. When you emotionally eat. Shift WHO you are. Be HER first. Get HER results. This is unshakable, undeniable, unstoppable alignment in being a naturally healthy and fit woman.

From my troubled upbringing, to my dysfunctional relationship with food & my body, to starting my first business in 2004 (a clothing boutique), to a decade long eating disorder, to educating myself on healthy eating, to navigating extreme anxiety and panic disorders, to overcoming hypothyroidism & hormone imbalances, to a very sudden divorce, to starting over with nothing & building a new life on my own raising my 2 & 6 year old boys, to building a new business to be able to stay home with my kids (Cocoa Bar), to doing the inner mindset & personal development work to heal, to jumping with both feet into life coaching, to refining, to now. Just a few years ago, the day after Thanksgiving morning started with regret. Fear I ‘lost control’ (yet again) and doubt I’d ever figure this food and permanent weight release issue out. I felt like I had all these skills and experience to solve this ‘problem’ after years of macro counting, fitness experience and health education, but I was still battling binging. Like what in the literal f. Yet, the problem was very real and it wasn’t just ‘going away’ doing the same things trying to get a different result. I needed an upgrade to my identity AND I needed to stop delegating my power to another diet or numbers in an app. INCLUDING my obsession with ‘hitting’ protein which is a part time job if you’re counting macros often times. (Side note; when you eat real food, quality, Wholefoods, hitting your protein isn’t an issue. Never. Ever.🫰)
