Today my HR dream team took some very well-deserved time to celebrate a year of success 💛

This group has helped create something incredibly special—a workplace where people truly love to work, feel supported, and feel seen.

✨ Roberta, our Chief Happiness Officer, brings the joy. From fun activities to motivation, appreciation, birthdays, anniversaries—she makes sure no one is overlooked and that connection is always part of our culture.

✨ Julie brings the calm, steady grounding energy. Her patience, organization, and thoughtful boundaries have helped bring structure to HR while staying deeply human. She has been instrumental in bringing on the right people—the ones who protect and grow our culture.

✨ And Nolan, our rockstar marketer, has spent much of 2025 living in the recruiting world—searching high and low for mission-driven therapists who want to do meaningful work and help kids grow.

So today we stepped away, went to Six Flags Magic Mountain, scared the pants off ourselves 🎢😆, laughed nonstop, and just enjoyed being together.

Grateful for this team. Grateful for the work they do. And grateful for moments like this that remind us why culture actually matters. 💙

Today, we're going to explore how you can use gentle massage techniques as an alternative to the Wilbarger Brushing Protocol. For some children, especially those who are very sensitive, the brushing technique can be too intense and might lead to adverse effects. Always remember to consult with a trained professional before starting any sensory program, particularly if your child has a seizure disorder.

Why Consider Massage?
Massage is an excellent alternative to brushing and can help achieve similar sensory regulation benefits. It’s gentler and can be a great starting point for children who find the brushing technique too overwhelming.

In This Video:

Benefits of using massage for sensory regulation.
Step-by-step guide on how to perform these massage techniques.
Tips for integrating massage into your child's routine.
How to gradually transition from massage to the Wilbarger Brushing Protocol.
Massage Techniques:

Slow, Gentle Strokes: Use your hands to apply slow, gentle strokes to your child's arms, legs, and back. This helps to calm the nervous system and provides deep pressure input without being too intense.

Joint Compressions: Gently compress your child's joints, such as shoulders, elbows, and knees. This technique can offer the proprioceptive input needed for sensory regulation.

Circular Motions: Using circular motions with your fingers, gently massage areas like the back of the neck, shoulders, and lower back. This can help to further relax and soothe your child.

Consistent Routine: Perform these massage techniques every 90 minutes to 2 hours, similar to the brushing protocol, to maintain a consistent sensory diet for your child.

Transitioning to Brushing:
Once your child becomes accustomed to massage and shows signs of sensory regulation, you can consider gradually introducing the Wilbarger Brushing Protocol. Start slowly and monitor your child's response, always keeping their comfort and tolerance in mind.

Important Note:

Always consult with a trained occupational therapist or healthcare professional before starting any new sensory technique, especially for children with seizure disorders.
Watch your child's cues and adjust the pressure and duration of the massage accordingly.
Special Note:
Watch as my incredibly tolerant son, despite his silly faces, humors his mom’s mission to teach other parents! 😂
