Helmuth Billy, MD Dr. Helmuth Billy specializes in providing laparoscopic bariatric surgery as part of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary weight-loss program.

We have brought our group of specialists under one roof to create a program that will support our patients on their journey to health and wellness. We hope you will use this website to gain information about our entire program and group of specialists. In addition to Dr. Billy, our team includes a Board Certified Pulmonologist and Board Certified Sleep Medicine Specialist, a Psychologist, a Registered Dietician, a Certified Physicians Assistant, two Certified Bariatric Nurses, a Patient Support Facilitator, and Shredandshed Physical Fitness team of personal trainers. The follow-up program at Ventura Advanced Surgical Associates includes continued dietary education, three monthly support groups, daily exercises classes with Shredandshed Physical Fitness team of personal trainers, and easy access to our nurses and physicians if you have questions. After surgery, patients who are interested may also enjoy the onsite offerings of Tre Jolie MediSpa which features the Cutera Laser System for skin tightening, brightening and rejuveination, as well as hair removal and vein therapy. It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved team member Nancy Barber. Nancy has been a vital part of our practice for 22 years, offering the highest level of patient support and understanding. Her dedication to our patients led her to be an integral part of our information seminars and patient support groups. Nancy established clothing exchanges, “support angels” for patient-to-patient help, annual picnics,holiday parties and fund-raising community events such as The Walk From Obesity.
Many of our long-term patients will remember Nancy as the person who met them at the hospital on the morning of their surgery. She was an ambassador of patient education and guidance. Nancy never stopped looking for ways to support a patient’s weight loss journey.
Nancy’s contributions to our practice benefitted so many patients over the years, but she also shared her heart and her spirit with her coworkers. Her loss is felt greatly.

Rep Salud Carbajol, Senator Adam Schiff and Rep Vince Fong. We discussed health care and bariatric surgery policy and had a successful day!

Magnetic anastomosis are incredible. They bring a whole new level of safety to complex operations.

Yesterday I spent the day with Dr John DeBarros and Dr Robert Schuster in Phoenix Arizona proctoring the first magnetic anastomotic cases in Arizona. I supervised three successful operations.

The GT metabolic magnetic anastomotic system is a safer way to create small bowel anastomosis and will improve outcomes. All patients went home the same day.

This weekend, Dr. Billy was off to Montreal for the third annual conference on magnetic anastomosis.

Our practice did the first magnetic anastomosis in the USA and now we have done the most operations in the USA using magnets to create anastomosis.
