The University of South Dakota Department of Dental Hygiene is the recipient of a new state-of-the-art piece of dental equipment that will heighten students’ understanding of periodontal anatomy and disease.

The USD Dental Hygiene mobile clinic is set up today at a local nursing home — and our workspace couldn’t be more beautiful! We never know what kind of space we’ll be in, but today we’re surrounded by the serenity of an arboretum. 🌿

We’re proud to be one of two mobile units on-site today, alongside a mobile MRI unit — both serving those with limited access to care. Expanding access, one visit at a time. 💙🦷

As we enter the last week of October which is National Dental Hygiene Month, let's review some of the duties of a dental hygienist. It's so much more than cleaning teeth!

1. Promote oral health
2. Educate patients
3. Take dental x-rays
4. Provide oral health screenings
5. And yes, we clean teeth!
