You may have noticed an increased presence of law enforcement at the hospital this morning. Wilbarger General Hospital, in conjunction with the Vernon Police Department, Vernon Sheriff’s Office, United Regional Health Care System, and the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (NCTTRAC), participated in an active shooter preparedness drill.
These exercises are conducted to help ensure our staff and community are prepared to respond effectively in the event of an emergency. We are grateful for the collaboration and support of our local and regional partners who helped make this training possible.
The safety of our patients, staff, and visitors remains our highest priority, and drills like this allow us to strengthen our coordination and response capabilities.

In honor of Cardiac Rehab Week, we are proud to highlight two of our incredible healthcare professionals, Jennifer Jackson, RRT, and Emmalee Horton, Exercise Physiologist. Their dedication, creativity, and tireless effort have made this week a fun and meaningful celebration for all of our patients.
Experiencing a cardiac event or living with a chronic heart condition can feel frightening and overwhelming, but our highly trained team is here to remind every patient that they never have to face it alone. At the heart of our program is a truly collaborative environment focused on support, healing, and hope. We are so grateful for the passion and compassion Jennifer and Emmalee bring to our patients every single day. ❤️

❤️ It’s Cardiac Rehab Week! ❤️
This week, we’re celebrating Cardiac Rehabilitation and the incredible blessing it is to offer this service right here in our small rural community. For our patients, cardiac rehab isn’t just exercise—it’s education, encouragement, healing, and hope. It’s a place where confidence is rebuilt, friendships are formed, and lives are truly changed.
In rural healthcare, access matters. Being able to walk alongside our neighbors on their heart-health journey—close to home, surrounded by familiar faces—is something we are deeply grateful for. Every step taken, every milestone reached, and every success story reminds us why this program is so important.
To our patients: thank you for trusting us.
To our dedicated cardiac rehab team: thank you for your compassion and commitment.
To our community: thank you for supporting heart health close to home.
Here’s to stronger hearts, healthier lives, and caring for our community—one heartbeat at a time. ❤️
