In honor of Veterans Day, Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation would like to highlight John Stanton and his Honor Flight journey. John was selected to go on the Honor Flight last month with his son. John visited many monuments and historical landmarks, including all the war memorials, Arlington Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial and many more sights. John states his favorite part was seeing the Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. Thank you for your service, John and Happy Veterans Day to all who have served! 🇺🇸

Congratulations Dale Gray, Maintenance Assistant, our Quest for Excellence winner for 2025! We are looking forward to honoring this year's outstanding Quest Winners at the banquet on November 13 at the Marriott in Indianapolis.

Dale has worked at our community for two years in maintenance. He is an experienced painter and handyman, with general contractor experience. He has made lasting improvements at Mount Vernon as well as and other ASC communities in the region, assisting in improving their appearance.

Dale said, “Getting this award is such an honor because I work with so many great people! I have done this type of work for a long time, but the healthcare setting was new for me. What I enjoy about my job is the residents and making their home a nicer place. I especially enjoy getting to see and work for residents that I have known most of my life.”

Dale has two daughters, two grandchildren, and a grandchild on the way. “Coming to work is like being at home for me,” he said. “My wife, daughter, and mother all work for ASC, and we all take our jobs seriously.” Dale’s hobbies include camping, hunting, and fishing. Dale is in a pool league and competed in Las Vegas earlier this year. Community involvement includes active participation in the local Masons, American Legion and Eagles Lodge.

Brian Bailey, ED said, “Dale is so responsive to whatever we need done. He sets a good example that when you put residents first, your work will be fun and rewarding.” Kandi Choate, CDM said, “Dale made me proud of my office again with new flooring and fresh paint.” Kayla Hembree, ED at another ASC community said, “I love when Dale helps us improve our appearance because his work and follow-through are top-notch.”
