Thought I was on top of things by getting eggs earlier in the week. Well, they are brown.

Ran out to Target at 9 pm with 4-year-old for white eggs to dye tomorrow.

Got to the self-checkout and my credit card was not in my purse. Found an old gift card and hoped it had enough on it for the $1.99 eggs.

(I couldn't use Apple pay etc. as my debit card has also been recently lost and is in transit.)

Egg purchase as a success! Got baby in car (way past bedtime). Realized I didn't have my phone. Confirmed after yelling, "Hey Siri, find my phone!" in the parking lot a couple of times to silence.

Got baby out of carseat and went back in the store. No one at the register. No sighting of it at the service desk.

My daughter works there. I had the service desk person walkie talkie her up. Daughter pulls up "find my phone" and hands me her phone so I can log in.

I have no idea what my Apple password is. Tried a few guesses but it didn't work.

Went home phoneless.

Laughter yoga is choosing laughter as a form of exercise. Laugh is an action verb just like run. You can choose to run for your health. You can choose to laugh for your health. Laughter is research proven to be highly beneficial to physical, emotional, and mental health. It also improves relationships. This is the flamingo laugh. Stand back to back with a partner on one leg and see how hard you can laugh without losing your balance. This can be modified anyway you want - do it solo, use a wall for support, just raise onto your toes, etc. Try it and report back how you get! 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

We ask a lot of early childhood educators.

Be patient. Be calm. Co-regulate. Handle behaviors. Build relationships. Stay positive.

But we often don’t give them space to take care of themselves in real, usable ways.

Early Learning Coalition of Lake county allowed me to do that Saturday!

We moved, we laughed, we got a little silly (and maybe a smidge uncomfortable), and we practiced regulation in a way that actually sticks.

Because self-care isn’t a spa day.
It’s what you can access in the middle of a hard moment.
