I have been working with the Healthy Families program with Nora for a little over a year now. Together, we have focused on strengthening my one-on-one interactions with my children, especially my youngest, Ian. Ian was very attached to me, and because hearing him cry made me upset, he would be in my arms most of the time. Naturally, he became very accustomed to being in my arms.
With my home visitor's support, I have been learning to give Ian more opportunities to interact and explore on his own and become more confident. By placing him on the floor with supervision, I allow him the chance to discover, play, and practice being independent.
Ian now enjoys being on the floor, playing and exploring, instead of always wanting to be carried. This progress makes me proud, and I plan to continue working with him to see what other new skills he can develop as he grows.
We’d like to thank the Board of County Commissioners for allocating funds through the Children’s Services Advisory Committee (CSAC) to support programs like ours. Together, we’re making a lasting impact on children and families in our
community. ”
