I have been working with the Healthy Families program with Nora for a little over a year now. Together, we have focused on strengthening my one-on-one interactions with my children, especially my youngest, Ian. Ian was very attached to me, and because hearing him cry made me upset, he would be in my arms most of the time. Naturally, he became very accustomed to being in my arms.

With my home visitor's support, I have been learning to give Ian more opportunities to interact and explore on his own and become more confident. By placing him on the floor with supervision, I allow him the chance to discover, play, and practice being independent.

Ian now enjoys being on the floor, playing and exploring, instead of always wanting to be carried. This progress makes me proud, and I plan to continue working with him to see what other new skills he can develop as he grows.

We’d like to thank the Board of County Commissioners for allocating funds through the Children’s Services Advisory Committee (CSAC) to support programs like ours. Together, we’re making a lasting impact on children and families in our
community. ”

💜 As October comes to a close, we continue to honor the families who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, or any cause during pregnancy or infancy.

Awareness leads to compassion, support, and prevention—and every story matters.

If you or someone you love has experienced loss, please know you’re not alone. IRC Healthy Start is here for you. Reach out anytime and join our Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group every first and third Tuesday of the month 🤝.

Stillbirth Awareness Month reminds us why IRC Healthy Start exists.

We were created to help reduce poor birth outcomes and ensure every family in Indian River County has access to the support, education, and care they need for a healthier pregnancy and parenting experience.

Together, we’re working to build a community where every baby has a fighting chance—and every family feels supported.

🌈💖 Your intuition is a powerful guide—no one knows your little one quite like you do. Remember, every feeling, every instinct matters. 🥰✨

🤰💤 Side sleeping = safe sleeping when baby’s inside!

Sleeping on your side during pregnancy helps improve blood flow and reduces the risk of stillbirth.

If you notice any changes in your baby’s movements—slowing down, stopping, or weakening—contact your IRC Healthy Start nurse right away.

Remember: — both your movement and baby’s kicks! 👣
