Therapy Thursday: Medial Branch Blocks & RFA

When facet joint pain doesn’t improve with therapy or medications, we have targeted treatments that can help.

1️) Medial Branch Block:
A diagnostic injection that numbs the tiny nerves feeding the facet joint. If your pain is reduced, we know the joint is the source.

2️) Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA):
If the block works, we can use gentle heat to treat those nerves. This can give 6–12 months of pain reduction— sometimes longer.

-Minimally invasive
-Outpatient procedure
-Helps reduce reliance on medications
-Gets you moving again with less stiffness

What’s Wrong Wednesday: Facet Joint Pain

Not all back pain comes from discs or nerves — sometimes the problem is in the facet joints of your spine.

These are the small joints in the back of your spine that help you bend and twist. Over time, arthritis, injury, or simple wear-and-tear can make them painful.

Common symptoms:
Aching pain in the low back, neck, or mid-back
Pain that worsens when leaning back or twisting
Stiffness, especially after sitting or waking up
Sometimes less when leaning forward, or as the day goes on.

Facet joint pain is one of the most common causes of chronic back pain — and it’s treatable.

➡️ Tomorrow: We’ll talk about two simple procedures that can help calm irritated facet joints and provide lasting relief.

🧩 What’s Wrong Wednesday🧩 Herniated Disc

Ever felt sharp, shooting pain down your leg—or numbness and tingling in your foot? It might not be a leg problem at all.

A herniated disc occurs when the soft center of a spinal disc pushes out through a tear and presses on nearby nerves. A disc bulge can also have similar symptoms without an actual tear.

This can cause:
Back or neck pain
Sciatica (leg pain from nerve irritation)
Muscle weakness or numbness

🧠 Think of it like a jelly donut that’s been squished — and that jelly is pressing on a nerve!
Tomorrow, we’ll share one of the most effective treatments for this common condition.
