Many people are surprised to experience pain at the bottom of the kneecap after a total knee replacement.

Have you felt this during your recovery?

At Winning Edge Physical Therapy, we see this often—and one of the most common reasons is patellar tendon irritation (patellar tendinopathy).

The patellar tendon connects your kneecap to your shinbone and is heavily involved in nearly every rehab movement—standing up, walking, stairs, and strengthening exercises.

Here’s where many people get stuck:

1. You went into surgery already deconditioned
Months (or years) of pain often lead to less movement, weaker muscles, and a tendon that isn’t ready for higher demand.

2. You finally feel better… so you push it
Pain improves → motivation goes up, so you do more
It’s common to start doing exercises multiple times a day, every day.

3. Muscles improve faster than tendons
This is a big one. Your strength may be coming back—but your tendon hasn’t caught up yet.

4. Rehab exercises load this area more than you think
• Straight leg raises
• Knee extensions
• Sit-to-stands
• Step-ups
• Stairs

These are all great exercises—but without proper dosing, they can overload the tendon.

What does that overload look like?
-Pain right below the kneecap
-Tenderness to touch
-Increased discomfort with stairs or getting up from chair
-Feel like you’re “doing everything right” but still hurting

The good news:

This is usually very manageable. At Winning Edge Physical Therapy, we don’t just push harder—we guide the process:

• Adjusting how often you exercise
• Modifying intensity (not just stopping)
• Progressively building strength the right way
• Making sure your movement patterns are working for you, not against you

Recovery is not about doing more.

It’s about doing the right amount, at the right time.

If you’re dealing with this kind of pain, drop a comment or send us a message. We’re happy to help guide you in the right direction.

Have you experienced this during your knee replacement recovery?

✨ Trying to conceive but feeling stuck? ✨
You’re not alone — and you deserve support that looks at the whole picture. You were never meant to walk this road alone.

If you’ve been navigating infertility, hormone imbalance, pregnancy loss, secondary infertility, or intentionally preparing your body for pregnancy, there may be missing pieces and deeper root causes that haven’t been addressed yet.

👩‍⚕️ Dr. Trina Winner is a holistic pelvic physical therapist with specialty training in fertility, including certifications in abdominal-visceral mobilization, Mercier Therapy and endometriosis. She integrates a faith centered approach with her certifications in functional medicine and nutrition, advanced functional lab analysis, and fertility awareness–based methods. Trina has been doing this sacred work for over 7 years!

Using advanced cycle and hormone tracking, along with functional lab testing, she helps uncover patterns in the body that often go unseen — such as delayed ovulation, low progesterone patterns, hormone imbalances, or cycle irregularities. This allows care to be personalized and aligned with what your body is actually doing throughout your cycle. We support this upstream from the roots instead of just offering supplements/medications as a band aid.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, this approach looks deeper at factors that influence fertility such as:

• Pelvic floor function and alignment
• Blood flow and circulation to reproductive organs
• Nervous system regulation and stress response
• Gut–hormone communication
• Nutrient status, inflammation, underlying infections
• Whole-body structural balance

Dr. Trina helps couples optimize their bodies for conception, gently restoring balance honoring the body's beautiful design by addressing the systems that support healthy ovulation, implantation, and pregnancy. She serves as an advocate when you are working along side an OBGYN and/or fertility office.

Our faith centered fertility optimization care also includes male partner support, which is an important piece that is often overlooked. Through comprehensive lab analysis and semen analysis, potential contributors to subfertility can be identified — such as s***m count, motility, morphology, inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, metabolic health, and lifestyle factors. Addressing these root causes can significantly improve the chances of conception and healthy pregnancy outcomes.

This approach can support women and couples who are experiencing:

✨ Difficulty conceiving
✨ Secondary infertility
✨ Hormone imbalances or irregular cycles
✨ Recurrent pregnancy loss or miscarriage support
✨ Preparing the body intentionally before pregnancy

Many couples come to us after months — sometimes years — of trying, feeling frustrated and unsure what else to do. Often, the biggest shift comes from supporting the body itself so it can finally feel safe, nourished, and supported enough to conceive.

Dr. Trina focuses on the couple as a whole, recognizing that male factor plays an integral role in fertility and deserves attention and support as well. 🌱

Your fertility journey deserves a compassionate, root-cause, whole-body approach.

The Results ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Trina has been such a light during our journey with infertility — as our doula with our son’s birth, and during a miscarriage we experienced a few months ago. Her desire to help you thrive in all aspects of life is just one of her most valuable traits.”

Please help us spread the word so more couples can be supported. Many couples are still unaware of this gentle, root-cause approach that focuses on optimizing the body for conception in a holistic and often more accessible and cost effective way before pursuing fertility treatments. Research on this type of integrative fertility care has shown success rates of at least 87% for couples seeking support with natural gentle conception.

I’ve had spouts of dizziness postpartum. Leaned over the pack n play to get my few week old, got up and was spinning. Rachael graciously came to my house, assessed and did the maneuver. It only took 2x and I was golden! I even tried to treat it myself at home and didn’t work. I have treated this before but never experienced this before.
Also as I get older, hormones change I have had some random bout of dizziness. Rachael and I have discovered some of the root issues. She takes an in depth functional approach to dizziness for all ages. No need for medications, no need to live in caution.
