He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he studied both natural sciences and philosophy and was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He then completed his Doctorate in Dental Medicine in 1995 at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. Dr Cosgrove is an active member of the Birmingham District Dental Society, the Alabama Dental Association, the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and the University of Alabama School of Dentistry's Alumni Association.
