a semicolon is where a sentence could’ve ended… but didn’t.

that’s you

your story could’ve stopped
but you’re still here

and that means something

keep going 🖤

Somewhere along the way, most of us learned to measure ourselves by how others treated us. If they were dismissive, we assumed something was wrong with us. If they were cold, we figured we must have deserved it.

Your non-conscious mind absorbed that equation early. And it still runs it.
Here's what the research shows: how someone treats you is the output of their own accumulated patterns. Their history, their wounds, their unprocessed experiences. Their non-conscious mind in motion.

When someone's behavior toward you is cold or unkind, that's information about what's running in them. A pattern their mind built long before you entered the picture.
You were never the variable being measured.

Forward this to the friend who's been reading too much into how someone's been treating them lately. ❤️‍🩹

This is a tool that categorizes body-based practices to help you find safety in yourself during times of overwhelm. Safety starts in the body, not the mind. Somatics is powerful way to approach the healing process.

This is a great depiction when our nervous system enters into fight or flight and the loop begins.

Interrupting the Loop with Nervous System Regulation strategy

1. Name the feeling

2. Place your hand on your heart or belly and breathe deeply with longer exhale and this will engage your vagus nerve and active your parasympathetic part of the nervous system. You can also use some ice on your neck to further help engage your vagus nerve.

3. Ground your yourself to present time, what you see, hear, smell, taste, touch.

4. Add some movement maybe a sway, self hug

Understanding the issues concerning su***de and mental health is an important way to take part in su***de prevention, help others in crisis, and change the conversation around su***de.
