Don’t be afraid to indulge because who doesn’t love chocolate but just remember calories count so for every piece of chocolate, you have do four minutes of jumping jacks or three minutes of Burpee‘s . You could even just walk steady at a nice pace for 10 minutes all to burn off that yummy little piece of chocolate. Just keeping it in perspective.

Hey there SS fam! Here is a Wellness Wednesday recipe: Avacado toast with toasted seed bread, avacado smash, egg over easy and not shown but sometimes I will top it with a serving of smoked salmon. Next up is a protein smoothie to boost muscle recovery and I am on to my day. Today I will do about 4 hours of massage. My day won’t stop there, tonight I will go on to coach gymnastics until 8:30.
How do I do it? Good nutrition, getting good sleep, hydration, daily functional movement, and a positive mindset. I love doing what I do, every minute of it.

Sometimes I show up to coach, and sometimes I get to do sports massage. I was so happy to help an athlete 9 weeks post surgery gain some knee flexion with some light cupping for lymphatic drainage. These photos were taken Friday, 4 days later we repeated the process and she was up to 140 in flexion (not shown). This athlete holds a special place in my heart since she had the same ACL reconstruction surgery that I had when I was a gymnast. She is a fighter and I can’t wait to see her comeback.

Red light therapy helps you recover faster from strenuous workouts and acute injuries. You’re missing out if you’re not adding this in with your massage session or mobility training. It’s one of the ways that I can stay active and maintain a full schedule, injury, free pain-free, and consistently doing work without breaks. This is my secret. It’s what I do when I can’t get to see a massage therapist I’m doing self-care regularly, including red light therapy treatments, rolling, and stretching. I’ve been a massage therapist for 20 years and don’t plan to slow down anytime soon. I currently maintain a schedule for sports and orthopedic Massage, which can be highly demanding on the therapist. My secret: take care of your body with regular care and maintenance like rolling, stretching, red light, nutrition, and recovery.
