As we close out Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we would like to highlight a survivor and warrior that we are honored to work with. 💗
Breast Cancer Survivor Story: Denise’s Journey of Faith and Strength
In November 2017, Denise’s life took an unexpected turn. After missing three mammogram appointments, she almost canceled her next one—until her boss, Jami, urged her to go. That decision changed everything. The results revealed ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), stage zero breast cancer. Although doctors reassured her it was curable, Denise was devastated to learn she would need a mastectomy.
She underwent two major surgeries—one to remove her breast and another for reconstruction. The experience was life-changing, but Denise faced it with courage and faith. Fortunately, her early detection meant she didn’t need chemotherapy or radiation, just regular follow-ups.
Reflecting on her journey, Denise shares a message she hopes every woman will hear: “Get your mammogram. Don’t wait.” She knows that had she postponed her screening any longer, the cancer could have spread to her lymph nodes.
Today, Denise is cancer-free and full of gratitude. Her diagnosis transformed her outlook on life, deepening her faith and appreciation for every moment. She cherishes time spent with her children and their beloved fur babies and lives each day as a testament to God’s goodness and faithfulness.
“Grateful is an understatement,” she says. “My diagnosis changed me, but I’m thankful to be alive—and cancer-free.” 💗
