Office Closure Due to Power Outage

Good morning,

Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing a building-wide electrical issue, half of our office has power while the other half does not. Our phones are also down at this time.

Because of this, we will not be able to see patients today. We are so sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. If you need a school excuse, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

We will contact you as soon as the issue is resolved to help you reschedule your appointment.

We sincerely apologize again and look forward to seeing you soon!

Warm regards,

Caries in children can be "transmitted" from parents, caregivers, and children at daycare. What are known as vertical and horizontal transmission takes place allowing microorganisms to be exchanged between individuals at any age. Studies have shown that saliva, fingers in the mouth, or even breathing in proximity allow these events to take place.

The importance of preventing the transmission of oral bacteria between adults and children.

The main responsible are the bacteria/ fungi Streptococcus mutans and Candida albicans which are easily transmitted through saliva.

❌Don't blow the child's food
❌Don't lick your spoon or your pacifier
❌Do not "wash" the pacifier with your
mouth
❌Don't kiss children on the mouth

Children's dental enamel is very thin, so the teeth of the little ones are especially vulnerable. Remember, cavities are infections.
Food and snacks also play a fundamental role.

Remember that sugar and sweets favor bacterial proliferation, since bacteria feed on sugar and produce acids that destroy dental enamel.

Recommendations for taking care of children's oral health:
✅Cool food without blowing it
✅Always use personal utensils
✅Offer water frequently
✅Limit sugary foods and drinks
✅Take the child to the dentist from the eruption of the first tooth
✅Brush your teeth every night with a suitable children's brush.

Cavities are contagious?!

Yep. The same bacteria that cause tooth decay (Streptococcus mutans) 🦠 can spread through kissing or even sharing utensils.

Please don't forget your check up before the end of the year!

To celebrate Halloween 🎃 with more nutritious options than candy, you can create fun snacks using fruits, 🍌 🍓🍇🍎vegetables 🥕🥒🌽, and other healthy ingredients.

Many of these recipes are quick and easy to prepare and can be done with children for a more interactive activity.

✅They are good because they help control hunger, provide essential nutrients and avoid the excess sugar and fats of traditional sweets, which helps maintain energy and reduce the risk of health problems such as tooth decay. 🦷

Offering healthy snacks on Halloween is an excellent option to enjoy the celebration in a more nutritious way!!

Halloween 🎃

Fun, Healthy Smiles!
Here are 7 tips from the team at Victoria Kid’s Dentistry to help manage all that candy while keeping your child's teeth healthy:

* Choose the right candy - Choose chocolate 🍫 (especially dark!) over sticky, hard, strong colored, or sour treats.
* Limit treats - A piece or two after a meal will help protect those pearly whites!
* Brush 🪥after treats - Make sure to brush 30 mins after eating candy.
* Inspect for safety - Always check candy for signs of tampering before letting your little ones enjoy 😊
* Eat a good meal first - A healthy dinner can reduce candy cravings later!!
* Come and schedule your appointment with us for your checkup and cleaning!!
