When Excellence Feels Personal

Some moments remind you that care is not just what we do, it is how we do it. 💙🩶🧡

Little Baylor was having tubes placed in his ears, and like any mama, Haley Powell walked in with a full heart and a whole lot of nerves. What followed eased her heart in ways she did not expect.

Tyler Harris, one of our CRNAs, wrapped Baylor up and carried him back to the OR like he was his own. Baylor went straight into his arms without fear. Then Simmie Driggers, PACU RN, snuggled him, comforted him, and kept him calm until he was peacefully back with his mom and dad.

Haley later shared,
“They settled my nerves even when my anxiety was high. I trusted my own hospital with my family, and they showed up in every way.”

Now, she is rocking her baby with tears in her eyes, still overwhelmed by how gently and intentionally they cared for her son. This is the kind of care that stays with families forever.

And as if this story could not get any sweeter, Baylor later saw Tyler again while out to eat at a local restaurant. Even then, he remembered him. That bond was still there. A reminder that the moments our caregivers create truly last far beyond the walls of our hospital.

We are so grateful for these “boy bonding” moments that turn fear into faith and tears into trust. This is what caring like family truly looks like. 💙

Early detection truly saves lives — and lung cancer screening is one of the most effective tools we have.

Lung cancer often does not cause symptoms until it is advanced, which is why screening matters. A few things to know:

🔹 Only 6% of eligible Americans get screened each year
🔹 Low-dose CT scans can reduce the risk of dying from lung cancer by up to 20%
🔹 When found early, the 5-year survival rate jumps from 8% to more than 60%

If you or someone you love has a history of smoking, this screening could make all the difference.

Join us today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Front Lobby to learn more about lung cancer screening qualifications, early detection, and how to take the next step.

11/17/2025

LUNG CANCER AWARENESS MONTH - Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in America, according to the American Lung Association in Georgia. And for many people, there are no symptoms until later stages of the disease.

That’s why lung cancer screening is so important. Screening can detect cancer early, when it’s most treatable. It’s performed through a low-dose computerized tomography (CT) scan – an X-ray of your lungs that could lead to life-saving care.

🐝 BEE Award Recipient | Celebrating Extraordinary Care at Meadows

Please help us congratulate Francis Johnson, Patient Care Technician, for receiving the BEE Award at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital.

Francis was nominated for her remarkable dedication and her willingness to serve when her team needed her most. On her night off, she received a call for help during an urgent delivery. Without hesitation, she came straight to the hospital, stepped into the operating room, and supported the nurses and physician through a challenging situation.

She brought calm, confidence, and a positive spirit. Her teamwork helped ensure a safe and smooth experience for a mother and baby during one of the most vulnerable moments a family can face. Her quick response and compassionate presence made a difference that will never be forgotten.

Francis is known for showing up with heart, lifting her team, and caring for patients with kindness. She truly embodies what it means to “Be Exceptional Every Day,” and we are honored to celebrate her.

Congratulations, Francis. Thank you for the light, skill, and compassion you bring every single day.

As a part of HCA Healthcare, Memorial Health Meadows Hospital is committed to creating healthier tomorrows for our communities. We are proud to announce that we collected 178 pounds of medication during HCA Healthcare’s seventh annual “Crush the Crisis” prescription drug take back day. In total, HCA Healthcare has now collected more than 108,500 pounds of medication since launching “Crush the Crisis” across the country in 2019.

Memorial Health Meadows Hospital partnered with Toombs County Sheriff's Office to help community members safely and anonymously dispose of unused or expired medication while bringing awareness to the dangers of prescription drug misuse. The event was held in alignment with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which collected 571,054 pounds of medication.
