Growth is more than just getting taller. It’s one of the best windows we have into your child’s overall health.

When growth slows down or speeds up too quickly, it can sometimes be a sign of an underlying hormone issue, like growth hormone deficiency or early puberty.

These changes are often subtle at first, which is why tracking growth over time really matters.

If something feels off, trust your instincts. Early evaluation can make a big difference.

If your child is struggling to grow or gain weight, constant snacking might be part of the problem.

When kids graze all day, they often don’t come to meals hungry enough to eat the balanced nutrition their bodies actually need to grow. Those small snacks can add up, but they don’t always support healthy weight gain or growth.

Structured meals and snacks can make a big difference.

If you’re worried about your child’s growth or eating patterns, it’s worth taking a closer look.

Growth charts are a snapshot, not a prediction.

Just because your toddler is in the 90th percentile for height right now does NOT mean they’ll be in the 90th percentile as an adult. Growth in early childhood is influenced by so many factors, and percentiles can shift over time.

What matters most is the pattern. Is your child growing consistently along their curve?

If you’re noticing big jumps, drops, or just have a gut feeling something isn’t right, it’s always worth checking in.

📞 Reach out for an evaluation if you have concerns. Early insight can make all the difference.

Early puberty doesn’t just mean earlier changes, it can also mean less time to grow.

When puberty starts too soon, growth plates can close earlier than expected, which may lead to a shorter adult height.

If something feels off with your child’s growth or development, trust your instincts. Getting evaluated early can make a meaningful difference.

As a pediatric endocrinologist, I always tell families: the early signs of type 1 diabetes in kids can be easy to miss but being aware of the symptoms and what to look out for is important.

If you are concerned, talk to your pediatrician or call our office for an evaluation.

As a pediatric endocrinologist, I treat so much more than just diabetes.

Yes, I care for children with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes — but I also help kids growing too slowly, starting puberty too early (or too late), struggling with thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, PCOS, bone health issues, and complex hormone conditions that affect how their bodies develop.

Hormones impact growth, metabolism, mood, energy, and development — and when something is off, it can affect a child’s whole world.

My goal? To help kids grow, thrive, and feel confident in their bodies at every stage.

If you’ve ever wondered whether an endocrine issue might be affecting your child, you’re not alone — and you’re not without support. 💙

As a pediatric endocrinologist, I love simple, practical tools for families — and using your child’s hand to estimate portions is one of my favorites

👋 Palm = protein
✊ Fist = veggies
🖐️ Cupped hand = carbs
👍 Thumb = healthy fats

Because their hands grow with them, portions naturally match their body’s needs. Supporting healthy growth doesn’t have to be complicated. 💛

As a pediatric endocrinologist, I’m not just looking at height and weight — I’m checking that growth is steady, consistent, and supported by a balanced diet, good energy levels, and overall health.

Tall and thin can be completely healthy — what matters most is that the child is following their curve and getting the nutrition they need to grow strong. 💙

Mid-parental height is a simple way we estimate a child’s genetic height potential. It’s a guide, not a guarantee

Boys: (Mom’s height + Dad’s height + 5 inches) ÷ 2
Girls: (Mom’s height + Dad’s height − 5 inches) ÷ 2

Remember: nutrition, health, sleep, and puberty timing all matter—and steady growth over time matters more than a single number

Type 2 diabetes in children is one of the most misunderstood diagnoses I see in my practice.

It’s often surrounded by fear, confusion—and far too much blame.

In Episode 13 of the Endo Kids Podcast, we slow the conversation down and talk honestly about what type 2 diabetes really is, why we’re seeing more of it in kids, and how families can approach treatment with support—not shame.

Type 2 diabetes is serious.
But it is manageable and no family should feel alone.
