🚨🚨Today is Emily’s LAST DAY before baby arrives!! 🚨🚨

We are SO EXCITED to meet the latest Hometown Peds crew member but SO SAD that she will be out for the next several weeks for maternity leave.

Congratulations, Emily, on making it working full time through 39+ weeks of pregnancy! Now go deliver this baby 😜

MYTH!!
Babies can safely be outside in warm weather you just have to manage duration, shade, airflow, and hydration. The real issue isn’t just temperature it’s humidity + direct sun + lack of airflow. Watch for signs of discomfort & offer hydration, a fan, etc.
Watch your baby not just the weather app!

The sun shouldn't be scary🤍☀️

Natural sunlight is GOOD. We should all be getting 20-30 minutes of direct sunlight daily for optimal health/immune function. Here are some good guidelines based on age:

For newborns-6 months:
—-Focus on gentle protection like UV protective hats, shade, and lightweight UV swimwear.
—-Stick to small 10-15m windows of direct sunlight with frequent feeding (breast or bottle) to keep baby hydrated!

After 6 months you can start using zinc or tallow based sunscreen with increased hydration.

☀️Remember, The sun isn’t the enemy, it’s the body’s favorite ingredient to use to produce Vitamin D. ☀️
